I was not expecting to stay in a side building made of bedrooms. It did not feel like a hotel at all. Just a bedroom in a building. When l asked why not staying in the small hotel building, the answer was l don’t have a choice or preference.????

Despite emailing on three occasions to request a room suitable for someone with a disability, we were placed in a room that could only be reached using stairs. Despite the fact that these emails did not bounce back we were told that they had not been received. We expected the convenience of a meal at the hotel as promised on the Expedia website. Apparently these have not been available since January.

Lovely hotel with nice pool and excellent walking location. Would be even better when the current covid restrictions are lifted as the hotel restaurant looked cosy and there are many other nice looking options within a short walk. The outdoor area would also be nice once the weather warms up.

The hotel is charming and in a lovely location. Particularly the public spaces were well kept and very cosy. The hotel room was good, however, the jacuzzi bath was not working properly. Moreover the room was very hot (in winter) without the possibility to regulate the temperature downwards. COVID-19 related measures were not implemented strictly (particularly as regards the spa area).

Friendly staff, though they attempted add a breakfast to our charges though we did not ask for it. Our room and the hallway directly adjacent had low support beams...character of a historic property, but watch out walking around! Clean room and facility, and the dinner we enjoyed in the dining room was top-notch! A good value in a central location for the Rochefort area attractions.

Our stay in Room 12 which is in the roof area of the building was less than pleasant. It is already a small area but the roofline intrudes further into the room and with a very low door it means that anyone over 1.7m, of average build and with normal travel luggage will find it cramped and dangerous with potential head injuries a reality. The bathroom fan didnt work making it steamy. The shower has no door so you are standing in water at the basis which is opposite the shower. Flimsy plastic cups, dirty towel rail, an uncomfortable bed and pillows that are just oversized cushions all lower the standard of what could be a nice experience. The ambience and the decore is a big plus but these rooms in the roof area are to be avoided at any cost. Despite my complaints on checkout they still had the audacity to charge me the ful price and stunned silence.

We stayed here en route to S Germany. The journey from the motorway was longer than expected along a winding country road. There are hotels in the area which are nearer to the motorway. However, for the most part the extra miles were worth it as it is a hotel with a lots of style and very good service. The older building which forms the main has been refurbished with great flair. The standard of catering is very good but should you wish to have wine with your meal be prepared for very high prices. We opted for the local beer which is excellent, equally 12-50 euros for a pre dinner G&T seemed a bit expensive with no offer to look at a drinks list before hand. If we return for a future stay we would certainly book a room overlooking the garden as the rooms described as looking at the town overlook the main road through this small town with the problem of traffic noise at night. One little niggle, given our age! was the fact that the room safe was so low, at floor level, at the back of a wardrobe that we did not realise it was there until we were leaving. I suspect that as access to it would not have been easy we would have opted not to use it. Such a flaw in a hotel where the renovation has been well done. As we were staying for two nights we opted on the second night to choose one of the many local restaurants in the town for our evening dinner which have us a different perspective on the local catering
