Nice room clean and close by to the airport

We had driven for approximately 15 hours from Qatar to Saudi Arabia and arrived with our children feeling extremely tired and exhausted. We reached the rear side of the hotel, where there was no direct public entrance, and politely asked the guard to allow us into the basement parking. He informed us that the barrier could only be opened using a room access card. Since we had not yet checked in, I had no choice but to park outside, leave my exhausted family and children in the car, and walk a considerable distance to the main entrance on the opposite side of the hotel. At reception, I explained the situation and asked why arriving guests could not be admitted to the basement after such a long journey. I was told that this was hotel policy and that I needed to return to the car, collect our passports, complete the registration, and then receive an access card. I understand that some employees are simply following management instructions. Therefore, my concern is not directed solely at the guard, but mainly at the policy itself. In a country like Saudi Arabia, where many guests travel long distances by road, the arrival experience should offer warmth, understanding, and hospitality. After hours of driving, a welcoming smile from the security guard and a small amount of flexibility can make a tremendous difference and immediately ease the exhaustion of the journey. Unfortunately, this policy made our arrival unnecessarily difficult and left us feeling unwelcome, despite the excellent experience we had with every other aspect of the hotel.
