Clean, welcoming, very nice onsen experience.

Lovely stay with public and private onsens

Traditional Japanese-style resort hotel. The room was very spacious and comfortable (we chose beds instead of tatami). The service was very good, with clear explanations provided. There are two public bath options on-site, both excellent and separated by gender. We didn’t choose the kaiseki dinner due to the high price — and we regretted it. We tried to book it on the same day, but the reservation cutoff time had passed. We went out to find dinner in the area, but most restaurants close very early (8 PM) and there are very few options. We ended up going to a convenience store and bought food to eat in the room — which was also a lovely experience. We ended the night at the hotel bar with some warm sake (no food available there, just a few small snacks). Important tip: there’s nothing in the town itself — the resorts are the main attraction. We hadn’t realized that before, and it’s something important to consider when planning your trip and meals. For our trip, one night was enough. It’s not something we would repeat, as it’s not a priority for us — but it was worth it for the bathing experience. (We only used the hotel baths — we didn’t go to the public ones in town, as we didn’t think it was necessary to pay for something that was already available at the hotel and most likely better.)
