I stayed in Sotavento hotel for 6 nights 7 days and the stay was great. We primarily used to go on lot of excursions during the day so having a neat room and a room close to pickup points was awesome - had to either walk 10 mins or take a quick 5 min taxi to pickup points as early as 6 am was helpful. Close to Oxxo (convenience store) and couple of restaurants was good to have esp since we wanted to stack up on fruits night before early morning next days.

Does NOT offer wifi in your room. Its NOT functionally waterfront as they only have a dock lined with boats in a dirty lake right on the edge of the property. Room smelled like mold with visible mold. They didn’t even bother to remove the bugs they killed from my room. Not a good location. Better off staying in the city if you’re on a budget and calling cheap taxis through the uber app. Short rides were $3.

This place is very cute on the little marina. Awesome location for the ferry to Isla Mujeres and buses into the hotel zone

The room was really good but there were no wifi in the room. You need to stay in the lobby to use the wifi which is really frustrating. They speak english almost near to zero. In the morning we wanted something on the breakfast but the server lady doesn't understand any single english word. Usually if someone doesn't understand english he/she sends somebody else to communicate. But she kept speaking in Spanish even she realized that we don't understand spanish. Location of this hotel is little far for the center of the hotel zone. It was an average experience. Only the room was good and well furnished.
