This hotel is a very nice looking hotel. It's not your average hotel, like a Holiday Inn or anything like that. It's definitely its own kind of thing. You get some vintage charm to it. The doors you go through are very nice looking and the lobby, if you can call the small walkway, check in area, and whatever you'd call the little kitchen like area a "lobby". It is a very small entrance/lobby area that leads straight into the skinny hallway for the first floor rooms. Coming in I was looking to drop my bag off so I could go to the museums. The girl at the desk didn't seem like she really wanted to be there and like I was bothering her by existing, despite the fact that there wasn't a single other person in sight, so it's not like it was busy. She quickly told me that check in wasn't until 4, which I already knew. I do find it odd that in 2 hours after checkout that not a single room would be cleaned yet, but it wasn't a problem since I wasn't trying to check in yet. But she told me to put my bag in the little side room that had zero employees or security watching the bags that were just left out for literally anyone to take. So it's not safe in the slightest to leave your bag there. They have 48 rooms, so it's not a very big hotel. Each floor only has 6 rooms down the skinny, echoing hallways. But the room was great. It has a nice sized living room, kitchen, pantry, closet, bathroom with shower, bedroom, and a fairly large closet in the bedroom. There's no TV in the bedroom, but that's probably a good thing. The TV in the living room is awkwardly placed so that if you're sitting on the sofa, you have to angle yourself to watch. It's also a small TV to watch from that distance. If you're sitting at the kitchen counter, you could turn around and watch the TV fine, I suppose. Other than that, the hotel really doesn't have any real amenities. No restaurant, no pool, no gym. I suppose if you know those things aren't included and are fine with that, you won't be disappointed that they don't have any of them. It is a small downside to the hotel since most offer things like that, but, overall, if you're just using it really to sleep, possibly make some food on your own, and relax in your room, this is perfectly fine. I would recommend it, despite the poor start with customer service and lack of amenities.

I came into town for a conference. As a solo traveler it is sometimes hard to find a space with room, and this has more than enough room. It is walkable to almost anywhere downtown and only a few blocks from the conference center. Lots of closet space if needed, and just space in general. Would recommend also for those traveling that would like some privacy with the people they are traveling with.

I was working at DC convention center and this was the right location (walking distance) and the right price.
