    One of the best hotels I’ve stayed at in Kuching so far! ⭐ Friendly Staff ⭐ Helpful Room Service ⭐ Clean & Spacious Rooms ⭐ Great Location with Easy Access I’ve been travelling to Kuching and other parts of Sarawak for many years, and I’ve stayed in quite a number of hotels. This trip, however, was one of the most memorable. My flight arrived in Kuching quite early, and I reached the hotel around 12:00pm. Since the normal check-in time is 3:00 PM, I thought I’d just try my luck by checking my booking before heading out for lunch. “Welcome, Sir. Checking in?” “Yes, I’d like to check if my room is ready.” “May I have your name and IC, please?” To my surprise, within minutes, the receptionist handed me my room key with a warm smile. Then came something I truly appreciated. “I guess this is your first time staying with us. In the morning, you can enjoy breakfast at the cafés on either side of the hotel. At night, be sure to try our local Sarawak food just across the road.” “That’s wonderful. Thank you!” Before heading to my room, I noticed an art gallery on the ground floor next to a cosy little café behind the reception. It gave the hotel a unique and welcoming atmosphere. When I entered my room… WOW!! I instantly fell in love with it. The lighting was warm and inviting. The air conditioning was perfect. The bathroom was modern and spotless. Everything felt clean, comfortable, and high-tech. The bed and pillows were incredibly comfortable, making it easy to relax after a long journey. This trip was different from my previous visits to Kuching. Usually, I spend most of my time exploring the city, but this time I found myself enjoying the hotel just as much. It was the perfect place to unwind. The television offered a wide selection of channels and movies, making it the ideal setting for some much-needed “me time” and a relaxing staycation. Although it was only a short 2-day, 1-night getaway, it was exactly what I needed. I left feeling refreshed, recharged, and well-rested, ready for my busy schedule the following day. Thank you, Meritin Hotel, for your wonderful hospitality and for making my stay such an enjoyable one. I will definitely be back the next time I visit Kuching.

    The hotel building itself is nice, but it's further away from the main tourist area (if you don't have a car and are walking everywhere in the heat). There is a VERY loud bar directly opposite the hotel so if your room faces the main street, be prepared to have bass pumping through your room from 10pm - 2am on the weekends. Even with the ear plugs they provided it didn't block the bass. The staff did kindly move my room after the first night which made it better but I still would've preferred a hotel closer to the main waterfront area. The room quality really did differ though - my first (loud) room had uncomfortably high pillows so I couldn't sleep, and very stiff, uncomfortable sheets that didn't feel like a warm blanket at all. The second room was better, but then the shower head wasn't on a swivel, so then I had to hold it while showering one-handed to not get my hair wet. I also had housekeeping enter my room without knocking (the do not disturb sign was on). When I went outside to ask what they wanted, they didn't say a word and just stared at me, which made me very uncomfortable as I was staying alone and could've been in the middle of getting dressed, but luckily the latch was on. I went downstairs to change rooms and mentioned this incident to reception but they were wholly unconcerned and said oh because we marked your room as checked out because you are changing rooms. I'm not sure why they would've done that when I hadn't vacated yet, and their lack of care for their guest safety with strange people entering rooms unannounced was very concerning!

    The hotel lobby design is nice but it doesn't reflect to the hotel room. The walkway is shabby, needs better lighting and the room feels dated. however the hotel location is perfect.
