Fabulous hotel that suited our needs for the location and facilities after doing the Scarborough 10k. Made good use of spa facilities. The staff were friendly and helpful, even reuniting me with a necklace that I'd lost in the changing rooms. I would definitely stay here again.

There is so much to say about how bad the communication prior to arrival was i. e: nothing in writing from the Crown to confirm the third night ( 29th September) that I had booked directly by phone so I had to keep ringing them (and no one answers the phone ) to ask for confirmation of and then when we arrived a room without a sea view was allocated so we complained and were told they had different booking details from Agoda ( 29/9/-01/10 my booking with Agoda was for a double from 30/10-02//10. with sea view yet they had allocated a standard non sea view room fir 29th despite all my efforts. They kept saying that they were working on it but no apology was given just grumpy faces . No one apologised and had we not complained they would have left us in the standard double as no one contacted us to rectify the mistake. Throughout the whole frustrating and disappointing process they kept saying that they were working on it i. e: getting me a sea view room and that they'd call me back but they never did despite claiming that they had so we had to chase them until we finally got the sea view room that I had paid for which was OK . The whole hotel is looking tired and run down and needs a makeover, the reception staff are miserable , never smile and clearly don't enjoy being there , there were queues and people complaining at the desk every time we went to reception ( 3 nights) . The best thing I can say about it is the Spa and pool are good facilities and the staff there are helpful and pleasant. We didn't eat in the hotel as we had eaten in the restaurant before and the service and food were poor. It was an anniversary break in Scarborough and we really could have done without all the upset . I can't see us staying here again after many years of staying in The Crown we 'll look for accommodation elsewhere.
