The Lalit London

A place of excellence. All the team is good except a few, that we got least feel of hospitality while checking in. The team at breakfast is amazing, to name a few, Anu, Shubadha, Gayathri, Sandeep krishnan, your GM. Others are good, but I miss the experience of connectedness when I ask their guidance. Bit stubborn on the first two days. No concierge is another drawback. Else a fantastic space and not to miss! We shall surely visit again!

We had a wonderful stay at The Lalit London. The staff were incredibly warm, welcoming, and professional, making us feel at home from the moment we arrived. The room was spacious, comfortable, and beautifully maintained, and the hotel’s unique heritage building added so much character to the experience. The location was excellent, making it easy to explore the city and access public transport. We truly enjoyed our stay and would happily return on our next visit to London.

Very nice boutique hotel. High ceilings. Japanese toilet. Slept well. Aircon works well in summer. Room was 19 degrees, compared to 30+ outside. Big+. 5- 10 minutes walk to London bridge underground. Busy area. Lots of eateries and pubs nearby. Next to Thames walk and tower Bridge and the boat pier ( for uber transport up/down the thames). Breakfast was adequate, cooked English breakfast and a few buffet items. Indian food also available. Complimentary sprite/ coke, coffee, filtered water and crisps in the room.

When I look for any hotel, I always consider three major things --spacious bright clean rooms + daily housekeeping ; clean bathrooms with a good shower & very high ratings. This time in London, it had to be close to London Bridge, i.e. possible to reach on foot. Initially I didn't know LaLit's run by an Indian group into manufacturing, engineering and hospitality that operates India’s largest privately owned luxury hotel chain founded in 1988 by Lalit Suri until I checked in. That explains the unique ceiling lamp spotted ubiquitously that resembles a big 3-D yellow star and the vibes in the main lobby, bar & restaurant, lift lobby and the rooms subtly through the colour scheme and furnishings. It is not to be taken for granted these days in many Western hotels to have staff running out to take your luggage, so LaLit London had given us a good 1st impression when they did that as soon as we tried to heave the big suitcases up their few steps at the entrance. Check in was smooth and efficient. We were early so did not get access to our suite till 3pm. We’re in Tower Suite 304 and it is spacious, bright, clean. At one end there are two steps leading down to a small cosy sitting room with two sofas and a coffee table for one to read quietly. Everything in the mini bar is complimentary, refilled daily. That includes tea bags, coffee capsules, biscuits, confectionery and bottled water. There are lots of windows that can literally be opened to let in fresh air, perfect as London wasn’t scorching anymore when we’re there. TOTO toilet seat is a joy and LaLit gains points here as TOTO is renowned for top notch bathroom equipment for people who know the nuance. This hotel only provides a dry iron but when I requested a steam one, they bothered to spend the time to scour through their storage and finally passed me their one-and-only steam iron readily filled with clean water upon delivery. Full set of toiletries are aptly replaced once used and we specially requested fresh towels supplied on a daily basis cos the shower leaks and we need extra towels to soak the pool on the floor after each shower. They are most apologetic and tried very hard to fix it, sending technicians up daily including changing the rubber piping along the shower door but the leakage continued from day 1 to day 5 when we left. The slow shower and hand basin drainage was fixed immediately when we reported the issue. The shower is powerful featuring two separate shower heads. They have good water pressure and it’s easy to adjust the temp. One of the toilet buttons for flushing ( the small one ) was not working but the issue was never fixed so we had to just rely on the big button. It is good that there are windows in the toilet area so ventilation keeps air fresh. Minor issues include not able to call room to room and not able to call local numbers from the room. The phone in the room can only have access to the reception ( press 0 ). The date and time displayed on the phone are incorrect but perhaps no one even noticed. We were delighted knowing they serve afternoon tea , but upon checking we found it was all Indian food. It would be good if they had two menus for afternoon tea—Indian and British, after all this is London so our opinion is it’s fitting to have a taste of Brit too albeit everything is expected to be heavily Indian themed ( and nothing wrong with that ) in an Indian run hotel. We requested late check out a few days prior but were told to call that same morning instead, which we did and was glad it was granted. Check out was a breeze---it was the fastest, easiest, hassle-free and no-questions-asked procedure we’ve ever had in our 3+ decades travelling. They totally gave us a delightful, happy smile and said, ‘ I hope your stay was good, and ok, that’s it. ‘ And that’s it. No documents to sign or anything needed to check.
