Richmond Hotel Sapporo Odori

Perfectly situated in Tanukikoji street, just a few steps away from one of the Pole Town exits leading to Odori station. This hotel is perfect for travelers who are always on the move and would love the convenience of taking the subway to their next travel destination in Sapporo. This would also be a perfect spot if you're an avid shopper, since Donki is just a few steps away. The Standard Double Room is spacious enough to fit 4 of my luggages. Take note that refilling the amenities is self-service (at a counter by the concierge). Overall, my experience was great and I'll stay here again for my next Sapporo trip.

Will stay again if I will visit Sapporo. Perfect location, though the room is really small which is normal for Japanese standard. Very clean also and the staff are helpful.

The aircon in my room was rumbling, i went to speak to the front desk and they told me this is normal in their hotel as the hotel is old (+20yrs old). When the gentleman came upstairs to check, he acknowledged that the aircon was loud. So he said that i put up for a refund and get to a new hotel! That's at 6pm on a sunday evening! I told him I'll stay for the night and decide the next morning if i want to continue with my forward booking . To give him some credit, he did make an effort to check a few rooms and found a "quieter aircom" room after a couple of hours. At that point i have already unpacked and told him i will just stay in the current room, turn off the aircon, decide the next morning if i switch room or if i put up for cancellation of future nights. The next morning, i asked for a change of room, a different person at the front desk again told me to put up for cancellation as "the aircon sound is normal and all rooms are the same". I told her the gentleman found a quieter room and i rather switch rooms than to look for a new hotel dragging a luggage. She insisted all room are the same and if i want to move room i should clear out of my current room and bring down the luggage. I told her that since they are so insistent i will just stay put at my current room for 1 more night and move the next day after i look for a hotel when i get back that night. To cut long story short, i left it at that around 9am i left, when i came back around 2pm, i entered the room and found all my belongings, stuff in fridge and luggage cleared out of my room!!!!!! When i confronted them they said they move it so that i can move to the new room???!!!! I told them if i am mean i would have sued them as they moved my things from a room which i already paid and booked for without permission and without even telling me when they saw me returning! The excuse that gave was that their english is not good!!!??? I have been to Japan many times for more than 15 years. This trip, by the time i reached Richmond Odori i have already stayed in hotels all over Hokkaido for consecutive 78 days already, this is the first time a hotel kept asking a guest to move out as they don't want to solve issues and this is the first time they move your stuff from a room you booked and paid for without permission! I told the gentleman that i have been polite and reasonable, however that didn't mean that they should treat it as weakness and just take advantage that I'm soft-spoken and non aggression/ lack of insistence! I used to have a very positive image of Richmond hotel as i had a very good stay at their Richmond Obihiro property (this very same trip) There are so many other hotels, similar pricing and class along that street, for foreigners who doesn't speak Japanese, please ls stay anywhere but this hotel! I have video with the loud sound from my room, i can't upload here, but the sound is real and the staff heard it and acknowledged that it's noisy too. I met my neighbouring room as i was checking out this morning, i asked to see their room and their aircon, it was the "normal normal" and not the loud whirling and spluttering sound that my room has. This hotel needs to change their staff!
