I recently stayed at the Tommie Austin and had a mixed, but overall positive, experience. The location is excellent—it’s within walking distance of many restaurants, bars, and attractions, making it a great base for exploring downtown Austin.
The staff was friendly, welcoming, and helpful throughout my stay, and the hotel’s facilities were modern, clean, and well maintained.
The biggest downside was the room itself. It felt very cramped, and the sink design was especially impractical. While the modern aesthetic looks nice, it sacrifices functionality. If I stay here again, I would definitely choose a room on the Thompson side of the hotel, which offers a more practical layout.
One other thing to keep in mind is the nightlife. Because of the hotel’s location, you should expect loud music and street noise well into the night, especially on weekends.
Overall, if you’re looking for a stylish hotel in a fantastic location and don’t mind a smaller room or some nighttime noise, the Tommie Austin is a solid choice. Just consider booking on the Thompson side if comfort and room layout are priorities.
