    This was not my first stay at Lantern Hotel, but honestly, it will probably be my last. For 998,900++ VND — almost 1 million dong per night, I find the price ridiculous and unreasonable considering the condition and comfort provided. At this rate, I can easily find other hotels where I could stay 2 nights around Saigon Square and Ben Thanh Market. Pros: ✅ Free laundry service ✅ Staff are attentive, polite and helpful Cons — unfortunately, quite a lot: ❌ Very old, gloomy furniture — feels like stepping back into the 80s. ❌ Strong, unpleasant urine-like smell in the toilet. ❌ Bed was extremely hard and we could barely get proper sleep. ❌ Pillows were uncomfortable. ❌ AC was not functioning properly. The room was hot throughout the night, as if the air-conditioning had run out of gas. ❌ No hand-wash gel provided at the sink. ❌ Location is quite far from Ben Thanh Market and Malaysia Street. For a 1-night emergency/short stay, maybe acceptable. But for almost 1 million VND per night, I definitely would NOT recommend staying here for longer. There are simply better-value hotels in Ho Chi Minh City with much better location, comfort and facilities for the same—or even less—money. Sorry Lantern Hotel, but at this price point, the experience simply does not justify the cost. I’ll be looking elsewhere next time.
