Manhattan Hotel

The staff and service were good. However, the area feels a bit unsafe, and the hotel is quite old.

The fridge in the room was broken; had no outgoing cable. The guy at the reception helped and kept my food at the fridge of the bar.

Things went well.

Something really bad happened to me at this hotel, and I need to share it. Initially I would have awarded this hotel 5 stars: It is clean, reasonably priced and a 5 min walk from the Hauptbahnhof. The front desk staff were friendly. So. What went wrong? What went wrong is that, a housekeeper at this hotel stole my AirPods. Yes you read right. How do I know? When I returned from a day of site- seeing I tried to listen to music. Immediately the airpods, which I left on the night stand, would not pair to my phone (even though they do so automatically) and when I looked at them, the pod case was battered stained and filthy and the pods lacked my ear wax (gross I know, but it became important for identifying my pods). I came to realise two things: these airpods were not mine, and my room had been recently cleaned. I came to think the un-thinkable. Upon walking down the hall my airpods suddenly connected; the housekeeper was nearby, wearing airpods. I went up, and asked him flat out if he took mine, even suggesting he accidentally took them/mistook mine for his but he flat out denied it, showing me his airpods that were “black.“ I wasnt convinced. So what became of this situation? I got an apology from the manager and a free breakfast, and the housekeeper continues to work there. I know this because we returned to this hotel a week later for our last night in Germany before flying home, and we saw this housekeeper in the lobby. Your items may not be safe at this hotel.

I tried to correct the dates for my stay a few minutes after making my reservation through Hotels.com, and they refused to let Hotels.com make the change, just kept my money.

The staff are very helpful. The hotel is clean but the area is unsafe due to so many druggies in front of the hotel and the surrounding area. It is so close to all transit stations.

We stayed on the 5th floor and the balcony was amazing. We didn’t knew we had. The bad and the decoration… Everything was good but there is not a kitchen, just so you know. Plus, some people said the street is dangerous, we didn’t have any problem but this information might be true.

Literally left briefly after checking in. The place smelled awful, even after airing it out for a few hours and leaving for dinner. Carpets in halls were disgusting, and you get a physical key to lock/unlock the door. Major fire hazard in that you have to lock the door from inside, with the key, as well as unlock/open door. Would basically die in a fire. Went and stayed near the airport for basically the same price, and wish we would have done that before. It's also very loud, and aging. If location matters, I stayed at another hotel about a 15 min walk away another day that was way nicer, but would avoid next to the central station.
