If you like hot water and full pressure, the shower is great! My room was small, but I was traveling solo so there was plenty of space. Space. They brought a fan up for me because as an American we need moving air in a room! Windows open nicely as well. They could use a few more pillows on the bed. The hotel is very convenient to the heart of Basel. If you're coming in from the train, jump on the 30 bus and get off at the very first stop. The hotel is directly across the street. You'll also receive a travel pass for public transportation through your booking.

We enjoyed our one night stay in this hotel. The front desk lady was super nice and let us check in before 3:00pm. She gave us Basel Card and explained how to benefit from it. It saved us a lot of money for public transportation and museums. The room was very clean. The only thing that we think could improve is the outlets by the bed. If they could put one outlet on each side of the bed, that'll be more convenient. Overall, it's a nice hotel that we would recommend to anyone visiting Basel.

The room was spotless and very chic. Its small, so not a lot of room for big luggage. The location was perfect for traveling by train because it's one bus stop away from the train station. Down a few stairs and you're in the charming streets of Basel. I would stay here again!

I was in Basel with friends for Eurovision. The city as a whole embraced the contest wholeheartedly, and the hotel really got into the spirit of things. The reception staff couldn’t have been friendlier or more helpful. A small problem that we encountered with our room a few days into our stay was dealt with promptly and efficiently - we were moved to an alternative room straightaway. Breakfast was delicious, and it was nice to have the option to sit outside and eat it in the pleasant garden. This was my first visit to Basel. I would definitely return, and I’d stay at Steinenschanze again without hesitation.

Lovely staff - really welcoming, and offered sweets which my daughter loved! Great location with bus stop almost right outside. Clean room, comfortable bed. Surprising inclusion of a gramophone and records. Unfortunately there was construction work going on right next to our room which no-one mentioned. The drilling was limited but very annoying, and I was shocked that we were not prewarned at check-in or before.

Lovely welcome from the check in staff with a welcome drink and snack which was very much needed after a long day. The hotel is by a bus stop and the number 30 goes to basel sbb or its a 15 min walk. The cosy suit was clean and had a large sofa bed which had been set up for my daughter coffee machine and tv, and a separate room with a double bed and tv. The bed was very comfy and there were about 5 english tv channels which was a nice surprise. The shower room was nice and had a door to the bedroom and hallway. Shower gel and shampoo was provided with towels. We were also able to leave our cases there the following morning which was helpful whilst we visitied the zoo. Which was also only a 10 min walk away, and half price with the basel card we were given. Id definitely stay here again whilst in Basel.

We really enjoyed our stay - located very close to the train station (where the airport bus also stops), and old town so super convenient. Very quiet despite being close to a road. Super friendly and helpful reception (providing maps of the city, Basel card, tips for getting around the city easily and onwards travel) and a very clean and comfortable stay for a good price. I would stay here again for sure

So easy to get to from the airport. #30 bus stopped right outside of the hotel to take us to our ridership. Staff was very friendly. The hotel was a 5 minute walk to the Christmas markets, dining and shopping. Wood stay there again!
