Getting bad.

Upon arrival at the hotel at 3:00 PM — the stated check-in time — we were surprised to find that our room wasn’t ready. We were asked to return at 3:20 PM, only to be told again that it would take another 20 minutes. When I asked for clarification, the receptionist mentioned that check-in is “between 3:00 and 5:00 PM,” something I’ve personally never encountered before, and this detail was not mentioned anywhere during the booking process. Once we finally checked in, we found the room to be clean, which was appreciated. However, the beds were unfortunately not very comfortable, the minibar/fridge didn’t cool properly, and there were no coffee or tea facilities in the room — which is something I would expect at this price point. The housekeeping staff was very friendly, but the rest of the personnel came across as rather indifferent and unwelcoming. On a more positive note, the pool was nice. Unfortunately, the sauna was out of order. That said, the surrounding area is truly stunning and perfect for exploring. All in all, the price-quality ratio was disappointing. What we experienced would be more acceptable in a budget hotel, but not at the rate we paid.

Our room was small, and although the bathroom had been recently renovated, it felt cramped. The view was blocked by a blank wall from the neighboring building. Breakfast was simple with limited vegetable options. Next to the bar, there's a large room with old wooden windows, offering good local beer at decent prices, but it lacks coziness despite its interesting interior. However, the hotel has great potential and could easily be improved. On the positive side, the staff was kind and helpful, and the pool, jacuzzi, and small saunas were perfect for relaxing after hiking. The surrounding area is great for nature walks, which we enjoyed despite the drizzly weather.

Lovely hotel in beautiful and serene surroundings. The staff were quick to accommodate my husband who has accessibility issues, and this hotel accepts dogs. There is lots of space outside for dogs to exercise in and also a walk out the back past some beautiful rock faces. We ate at the restaurant in the evening and again the food was very good. Our room had an incredible view over the valley

I enjoyed my stay at the Castel. Directional signage to get there could be a bit better. The scenery is spectacular. We are surrounded by nature. The shower in the single rooms should be a bit larger.

The hotel is three stars but with four stars breakfast. Breakfast is amazing, with a lot of options, fresh fruit, and a decent choice of cheese, gluten-free, and vegan options as well. Rooms as spacious but slightly dated. Not tea making facilities in the room, but we had a small fridge with bottles of water replaced daily. Swimming pool- small, water was very cold, jacuzzi not working and two small saunas. Estate is quite big with walks available nearby. You can see a struggle with electricity bills by the hotel- no jacuzzi, cold pool, and empty pond, which all require power to run. Regardless of these small issues, we really loved our stay.

Lovely castle in an isolated and lovely part of Belgium. Accommodation was really good and fantastic value. The good was good but not as good value. If you stay there you really are committing to eat there so you need to add both together. We thought it was fine overall.

We had a lovely stay here for our 25th anniversary. Our room was spacious & bed was comfortable. The bar area and lounge were very nice for a nightcap. The breakfast was delicious and fresh. Lots of choices. The grounds are beautiful and great place to take a hike or walk. I do believe you should offer a shuttle a few times during day. We had a car & had to drive into town. But, would be inconvenient if you don’t have a car. The shower could’ve used a thorough scrub. There was some mold. Other than that, we enjoyed our stay.
