The Old Apothecary

What a fantastic property in the heart of Matlock Bath. Really close to the railway station. Lots of places to eat and drink nearby (mostly fish and chips), including crazy golf with a bar just next door. With three large bedrooms, two sitting rooms and a kitchen diner there was loads of space for our family, a must when travelling with a teenager. The property was very clean and tidy, and the host provided all bed linen and towels. Tea, coffee, milk and biscuits were provided which is such a lovely touch. Also a discount voucher for the shop downstairs. There were two good sized fans available which were very welcome as we stayed during a heatwave! Instructions to access the property were easy to follow, and the advice on parking was welcome.

It is on the main road and was noisy, especially with all the motorcycles. The upstairs windows were difficult to open although we managed to do so in the end. Not the fault of the host, but worth noting that Matlock Bath doesn’t have a convenience store or newsagent so you really need to have a car to go to the supermarket in Matlock itself.

Just returned from.a weekend break. Check in instructions so clear, and the accomodation is spacious,.clean with a great shower.AND a bath. Welcome pack was a lovely addotion of coffee, milk snd biscuits, together witj a fully equipped kitcuen. Outdoor seating area a bonus too as we had an exceptionally.sunny.weekend.

Hard to find fault!, but perhaps a full length mirror in the bathroom.

A lot of the historical features have been kept and modern facilities carefully added. It’s a very spacious and beautiful house. Everything was clean, good shower, comfy beds. Lovely staff in the shop below.

Some doors didn’t lock property which isn’t good for privacy Floor boards were cracking Bed was adequate but my brothers couldn’t sleep properly they were ok for one night. Living room chairs were ok, tv was quite slow Door to open apartment is quite difficult For the price of the property it was quite dear especially because the beds are quite hard on my back. My bed at home is more comfy. As well as this the fact I couldn’t cancel due to family emergencies which shows that the host doesn’t allow any flexibility with the accomodation.
