I hesitated for a while about how to write this… but here it is. The place itself is truly beautiful. Nature, the surroundings, turtles, sheep, goats, and even an old stone bridge nearby – wow. The house – also wow. The pool – great. Everything looks fine on the surface, but to be honest, I can’t give 5 stars. The value for money just didn’t match our expectations. What we got felt more like a simple countryside experience, but at Sarandë-level prices. Also, there was a lack of clear communication. We were offered dinner, and they did prepare it – tasty, yes – but the homemade wine… well, I’m not sure it can really be called wine. Maybe with honey or herbs? Out of respect, I drank it. To be clear – the family is big, warm, and kind. Different relatives arrive daily, and it’s a lively atmosphere.
Where things went wrong: No coffee available (not a big issue – we found a great little coffee place nearby). The listing said there's a BBQ grill – we saw nothing like that. “See you tomorrow” apparently meant “see you when you're leaving” – and we were left alone in a remote Albanian village without any local currency. But overall, we did enjoy ourselves, and we are thankful. The only real issue that left a bitter aftertaste was the communication. When it came time to pay – we were charged €47 for the dinner. That honestly shocked us. The previous evening, we had dined in a fancy hilltop restaurant, with wine, beer, starters, mains – and paid €72. Here, for a pot of rice with chicken (missing wings and one leg, by the way), we were charged nearly the same. It felt like someone just tried to make quick money on the spot. That’s not how you build a sustainable business, especially with strong competition growing around. We were okay with only one air-conditioner in the common area. The hosts were friendly. But that one moment – the surprise dinner bill – kind of ruined the positive feeling we had. It left a sense of disappointment that overshadowed the charm of the place. You gained €20 extra from us, but lost a bit of trust. I think that dinner was worth maybe €27 max. Also – I asked for recommendations for dinner, and the reply was, “I’ll make it. Pizza or chicken?” – without any mention of the price. House rules said quiet hours start at 23:00, but then the whole extended family came over and started dancing at 11 PM. Honestly – you have great potential. But I noticed that your relatives drive cars with Swiss and German plates. Please use that European experience to improve how you welcome guests. Then your courtyard won’t be empty, and your price will match the quality. And lastly – There’s no need to speak to us in Russian. We’re not Slavs, and definitely not Russians. Just like we wouldn’t speak to you in Serbian or Greek.
