Toad Hall Pet-Friendly Family Stay, Lake Access

The house was very comfortable with extremely good quality beds and bedding. The location was superb - great for walking the dogs several times a day.

The literature provided with the house (but also the literature with regards the whole estate) strongly suggested beavers had been successfully introduced to one of the lakes. After venturing there each morning and evening, I asked one of the gamekeepers who informed me that the introduction was not very successful and the beavers did not reproduce so no beavers have been present for quite a few years. The house overall was great but was a little disappointed in the welcome pack and the lack of shampoo (& conditioner) for the bathrooms. Only a small complaint but with quite an expensive price tag, I would have expected more. (Having stayed in many accommodation over the years, shampoo has always been provided and the welcome packs have generally had more "welcome" to them).

House warm and clean and homely. All the household conveniences we needed. Taastefully decorated

Kitchen very small. Bedrooms small. Proximity to other accommodation very close, so noisy neighbours kept us awake one nght. No access to the indoor pool and wellness facilities in this house. Yet the bookings system allowed us to book a swim and one person booked and paid for a £100 massage only to be turned away at reception both times. { With a 5 day wait for the return of the £100 paid]. This 2 tier system for access to the facilities definitely spoilt our stay and we would not return.

It was comfortable and clean.

Basic toiletries were missing like shower gel, shampoo, lotion, etc Basic condiments were missing. There was no salt and pepper. There was no one on call who could reach us within a short time if there was a need. I was stuck with and open front door as the door lock was stuck and I tried to get someone to come to fix it. I was told that someone can come to do it in an hour and half! A description of all the walks and trails around the actual place would be nice. We discovered it late when it was time to leave.

Living area was a little dark but probably couldn't change this at that style property
