Woonboot Zus Zwaan

De boot was heel netjes, schoon, sfeervol, compleet en dicht bij het centrum. De bedden lagen goed en de douche was fijn! Een echte aanrader!

We really enjoyed our stay at Woonboot Zus Zwaan, it is an idyllic setting with ducks and moorhens (who are partial to a couple of handfuls of porridge oats a few times a day) swimming by and the occasional boat with friendly waving people sailing past. It’s a great position for a stroll along the canals to get to the centre of Alkmaar with all its life and about 30 minutes to the train station. The houseboat was very clean and the pictures are accurate. It has a very large comfy bed, great shower with unlimited, very hot water. The kitchen is more than adequate size and we cooked dinner a couple of times during our stay. The owners are super helpful and responded to my couple of queries almost immediately.

Not having a toaster made breakfast more of a challenge, toasting under the grill seems such a faff. There was what looked like a panini press but it was huge and not something I wanted to investigate. Also I like a proper bedside table, the little stool is quite difficult to balance everything that needs charging these days. Lastly as of Sept ‘26 the boat next door is being renovated and work starts at 8am and can go on until very late, 10 pm on our first night, obviously this is outwith the owners control but something to be aware of.
