About this apartment rental

A charming house located on the top floor of a renovated mill at the entrance of the medieval village of Monte Marcello, on the border between Liguria and Tuscany. It is a lovely apartment, with a large living / dining room and a wonderful view to the Apennine mountains and the whole valley of the Magra. Located between the sea and the mountains, it is ideal for those wishing to explore the area, with fantastic walks in the national coastal park. The sea is nearby, although you have to take a walk of 700 steps! The easiest option is to drive or to take the bus to Bocca di Magra or to Lerici from where there are boat trips along the coast. The house has a small terrace on top of the stone staircase; a wonderful place to sit with a morning coffee or evening with Prosecco and gaze through the white marble mountains of Carrara. Of the glazed front door opens into a living / dining room with a ceiling fan. Please note that all the windows of the house are provided with blinds with mosquito nets . A sliding door leads to a double room with a double bed or 2 single beds. It is possible to add an extra bed in case of need. A corridor on the right leads to a small kitchen with a dishwasher, followed by the bathroom with a washing machine. The spacious master bedroom has a ceiling fan and large closets. The mill is elegantly furnished with an eclectic mix of rustic and antique furniture collected by the owner's family from all over the world. The village of Montemarcello is classified as one of the most beautiful towns in Italy. Around the village, the forests of evergreen oaks are now part of a national park and are crossed by marked trails. You can use these to reach the coast, where there are the picturesque villages of Tellaro and Lerici. Further afield, you can get boats along the coast from Bocca di Magra, and visit hidden bays, or go further north towards Portovenere and the Cinque Terre, with wonderful villages along the steep slopes, often accessible only by boat or on foot.
Inland, the Magra Valley and the surrounding hills are the joy of a cyclist, with winding streets their way up to the surrounding mountains. The area was once part of the kingdom of Luni, then conquered by the Romans. The city of Luni is now an archaeological site and you can explore the remains of the Roman city. Sarzana, with its fascinating historic center is the main city in the area today.
Further afield, you can travel to Genoa in an hour and a half, and his beautifully restored harbor with small narrow streets and beautiful churches in rows, and its famous aquarium. Pisa is an hour away, Florence 2 hours, while Lucca is less than an hour.

We spent a wonderful week in Flavia's apartment with day trips to nearby beaches, towns and villages. The apartment is charming, well-equipped and spacious and Flavia and her mother are very kind hosts. This was our second stay and we would love to come back another time.

Flavia is very nice and responsive, communication was perfect! The apartment is lovely, with great atmosphere. The ceiling fans in the living room and master bedroom really do a great job. Tap water is drinkable and there is a great system for garbage disposal. Also, there is a little library with books in Italian, English and French. The terrace has a lovely view, it is quite small though. Having meals is not too comfortable (we still did couple of times :) The kitchen is tiny, with no working space and gets super hot if you cook. There are lovely restaurants in Monte Marcello. The one downstairs is great, but also the home-made food on the main square was lovely. Bathroom is spacious, has a window with a view. The shower cabin might need some work. The bedrooms are a good size. We lacked shelves for our stuff, but there was lots of space to hang the clothes. We found our bed rather uncomfortable, our daughter was happy with hers. Going to the beach is a challenge, the stairs are a bit wild, but it gets easier and quicker every time. We went with a ten year old. The water was great, the beach very clean. All in all, we had a great time at Flavia's apartment

Great location in an exceptionally beautiful village - wonderful apartment, very well furnished, with mountain view yet very close to the ocean. Amazing dark sand beach - walk originates right from the village - 680 steps - fairly easily done by 10 year old. More beaches accessible within short driving distance. Excellent restaurants in the vicinity, one right in the village and 2 great cafes. Super helpful host. Will return for sure. Gastgeberin extrem hilfreich.

Wohnung top Vermieterin Flop

Montemarcello is very cute and quite. It was exactly what we were looking for. But be aware that you need a car. In the village is just a little shop. But the trattoria next to the appartement is awsome and the bar in the mittle of the village is great too. The place is perfect for day trips like cinque terre, Lerici, Pisa, ... or swimming in the sea. There are severeal beaches that you reach in 15-30min by car. The apparement it self was clean and had all what we needed as a little family (5 month baby). Internet is not the best, but it worked and was enough for holiday ;-) The apparement is big, you will have a lot of place, two bed rooms and a big living room. Comunication was easy with Flavia or her mother at place. That works in english, french and italian (more languges we didn't use...). We can totally reommend this appartement. Thanks to Flavia and her mother.
