The location was great. We have stayed at Pirates Cove several times and love being on the sound. We saw dolphins from the deck and caught crabs from the dock. Having a great restaurant and bar on site is a plus.
The house is nicely decorated but we found the furnishings to be lacking. The sofas in the living area are small and not comfortable for relaxing. The beds are mattresses placed on bed frames with no foundation. Low to the ground and not very comfortable. None of the bedrooms had dressers so unpacking our things was difficult. There was only a smallish table and 3 chairs on the main deck. If we hadn’t brought beach chairs we wouldn’t have been able to use the deck. We found an outdoor rocking chair in the garage and carried it upstairs. When my son-in-law rocked back the chair went all the way back and he landed on his back. Fortunately he was not hurt. The end of the dock is in bad shape - very wavy. The house was fine for our weekend stay but wouldn’t be well suited for a week long vacation. Kitchen supplies were also very limited in terms of pots and pans and dishes. We were told we were welcome to use olive oil, salt, etc. but there was none. Nor were there cleaning supplies.
The host was very responsive and communication with him was good but it would be nice if there was a binder with information about the property and local area.
