A pure period of peace and relaxation

A beautiful, roomy, comfortable countryside retreat place with wonderful hosts!

Undoubtedly the most comfortable, welcoming place we’ve visited in our 120 day trek through Europe and England! The guest house is roomy, well supplied, comfortable and everything one could want in a retreat space. It’s also in a beautiful wooded farmland, but not too far (a 30 minute walk to Moretonhampstead) and right on the border of an interesting area of Dartmoor. Most of all-the host family was really kind and helpful. We’d have stayed longer if we could!

Dartmoor stay

Quiet area, owners are very welcoming and friendly, comfortable beds. We sat in the garden to have our evening meals while enjoying the freshness of Miretonhampstead. My daughter enjoyed cuddles with Wendy's cats. We also had a lovely evening playing football and croquet on the green field area opposite the property. Am not a keen driver on countrylanes but I did well considerably. We visited Manaton Village and North Bovey, they've both got lovely churches open for any visitor. St John's church in North Bovey has a corner for second hand books, my daughter bought couple of books. The property is not far from Becky falls.

Relaxing and peaceful stay in the country and very near to Dartmoor.

Great location in the country, just outside Moretonhamstead. Fantastic spacious and comfortable bedroom on the first floor with balcony to sit in the evening and listen to the birds and the trees. Living space and kitchen - all very well equipped and tastefully decorated.

Beautiful cozy stay right in Dartmoor National Park

The Cowshed is absolutely stunning and very cozy with a fireplace and all the amenities you need (even heated floors in the bathroom). The place was clean and warm. The host, Wendy, was very welcoming and gave us many recommendations on walks and pubs in the area. We didn't have a car, but the property is very well located just 20 minute walk from the village for groceries and restaurants, and many beautiful Dartmoor paths (Hunter's and Fisherman's path, Castle Drogo, North Bovey, Easdon Tor) are close by. Wendy was also extremely helpful in helping us find a taxi when none were available on a bank holiday.

Fantastische uitvalsbasis voor Dartmoor

Prachtige cottage op een mooie locatie. Heerlijk ruim, mooi ingericht en alles wat je nodig hebt is aanwezig. Korte wandeling naar het dorp voor eventueel de pub of eetgelegenheden en winkeltjes. Contact met host was prima, snelle reacties en persoonlijk welkomst en rondleiding. Wij zouden hier graag opnieuw verblijven mochten we weer in deze omgeving op vakantie gaan. Zeker een aanrader, wat ons betreft een dikke 10

Große, gemütliche Ferienwohnung mitten in der Natur

Sehr große und gemütliche Ferienwohnung über zwei Stockwerke, man hat das ganze Haus für sich, die Besitzer wohnen im Haus nebenan. Voll ausgestattete Küche mit Spülmaschine. Es gibt auch eine Waschmaschine, um zwischendurch mal Kleidung zu waschen. Das Bad ist sehr modern. Das Schlafzimmer umfasst das gesamte obere Stockwerk und ist schön hell und gemütlich mit tollem Ausblick. Die Besitzer sind super nett und geben gerne Tipps für Ausflüge in der Umgebung. Die Lage der Ferienwohnung ist schön im Grünen und sehr ruhig, wir haben uns wirklich wohlgefühlt.

Die Dusche ist offen und der Boden etwas zu eben, so dass beim Duschen sehr viel vom Boden nass wird. Das Waschbecken war auch relativ klein. War aber beides wirklich nicht schlimm.

Grande et belle maison, impeccable

Le logement est une ancienne étable refaite à neuf. Elle a de beaux volumes ! La grande chambre du premier étage est vraiment immense, lumineuse et riante. C'est extrêmement plaisant d'y être et d'y dormir. On se sent au calme et au propre. Pouvoir faire du feu dans la pièce du bas est très agréable ; il y avait un bon feu à notre arrivée, merci à Wendy ! En plus les hôtes avaient laissé une bonne provision de bois, c'est généreux et sympathique. L'hôtesse a permis à notre garçon de nourrir les canards... quelle fête ! La situation de la maison est parfaite pour aller faire des randonnées dans le Devon : on est proche de Postbridge, Haytor Rocks et Scorhill. On est au coeur du paysage.

L'éclairage en bas, un peu froid ; peut-être une petite lampe plus chaleureuse ? La pomme de douche ne tient pas lorsqu'on l'accroche en hauteur ; elle est tombée sur ma tête pendant que je lavais mon garçon. C'est une maison où il y a beaucoup de consignes et de règles à suivre ; peut-être aurions-nous préféré quelque chose de plus simple, où l'on fait confiance au bon sens et au respect qu'ont les locataires.
