Shane's Retreat -Coastal Cottage in Northumberland

Lovely dog-friendly holiday base in a beautiful part of the world. The house is comfy, has absolutely everything you need and the little extra touches make you feel really welcome whether you have four legs or two! Elaine was very responsive when we had a little issue with a door in the heat. Will definitely think about returning.

We had such a wonderful stay at Shane’s Retreat and honestly didn’t want to leave! From the moment we arrived, it felt cosy, comfortable and really welcoming — a true home away from home. The kitchen was exceptionally well equipped with everything we could possibly need, which made our stay so easy and relaxing. The location was fantastic too. The harbour and beach were just a short walk away, and having the English Coastal Path only a few steps from the door was a real bonus. We loved being able to head out for beautiful coastal walks whenever we wanted. Everything we needed was also conveniently close by, with a lovely local shop just down the road, Tesco in the town centre and Morrisons only a few minutes’ drive away. We absolutely loved our time at Shane’s Retreat and would happily return. It’s a lovely, cosy place in a brilliant location, and we wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it to anyone looking for a relaxing coastal getaway. Thank you for such a lovely stay — we’ll definitely be back! ❤️

Great location, very close to harbour and all amenities. A well appointed cottage with some special touches like a lovely welcome pack for us and our dog, made us all feel welcome. It was nicely presented and comfortable. We were able to check in earlier than expected which enabled us to use the fridge for our essentials.

The remote control for the TV didn't work, so we spent almost 2 hours trying to get the TV to work to be able to watch the England world cup match. Elaine the host was helpful and ordered a new remote control and told us about an app we could download to work the TV. This did work, but it did cause us to waste time and added a bit of stress. Maybe the TV could be tested before check in. Some basic instructions on how to use the induction hob would be ideal, as we struggled to use this, and I had to message the host again. There no plug sockets next to mirrors, so I had to get an extension cable from our car to dry and style my hair.
