Nakanoyu Onsen Ryokan - Vacation STAY 06697v

A really cool place to stay. It’s the perfect hotel to use as a base to explore Kamikochi. There is a shuttle bus that takes you to the national park in the mornings, and another that picks you up from a bus station after you have finished hiking. The rooms are clean and the onsens are nicely maintained. The staff are all incredibly kind and welcoming. We opted to eat dinner and breakfast at the hotel which are huge, authentic meals which we really enjoyed.

Our only complaint regarding our stay was the amount of the surcharge to change the meal from meat to pescatarian. The pescatarian meal adds an extra 3300 Yen ($20) per day, and on the two days we stayed there, only one dish (of about 15!) at each of the dinners was different between the meat and pescatarian meals. Unfortunately, one night the pescatarian meal also contained meat. We therefore found it a very expensive surcharge for only one slight difference in meals, although we did appreciate being offered a pescatarian / vegetarian option.

Queremos destacar la calidad del staff, su amabilidad y la buena organización: es súper fácil llegar al hotel ya que ofrecen shuttle bus desde la estación de Matsumoto, además del shuttle a Kamikochi. Es perfecto acabar el día en su onsen (tattoo friendly). Tiene unas vistas increíbles a la montaña.

Loved this place. The staff were so so helpful, Tomoko san answered all my questions before my stay and the staff in person were great. The food was all so good and varied, loved the beef sukiyaki. There’s a shuttle from Matsumoto station and a shuttle to kamikochi and back every day, which makes everything very easy. Plus the property is right by the Mount Yake trail head entrance so you can start your hike straightaway. Onsen was very relaxing, nice that there was an outside area. Nice coffee at reception. Great ice cold Asahi after a day of hiking. There’s a little shop in the hotel selling snacks, souvenirs and hiking equipment. A very relaxing few days.

It gets quite bright in the rooms in the morning so bring an eye mask if you’re a light sleeer. There’s no shower in the room since it’s an onsen hotel, this wasn’t a problem for us as the onsen was lovely, but might be a surprise to some tourists.
