Haven Ridge cabin in the private New River Preserve community is an idyllic location for a secluded getaway for couples, small families, or a few friends. This cozy log cabin is a perfect place to rest and recharge, escape from a hectic schedule, enjoy nature, or celebrate a special occasion.
Antique and modern elements combine to create a unique mountain experience on this private 1.85 acre lot. The exterior features preserved circa 1882 logs, while the interior features reclaimed trim from a 1940s tobacco barn combined with modern construction. The covered screen porch is a guest favorite!
The property has 125 ft of private river frontage (the cabin is not directly on the water), just a short walk down the drive, below the cabin, is a grassy area, easily accessible and perfect for a picnic, fishing, kayaking, or just enjoy sitting by the water with a good book! Folding chairs are available for use at the cabin. This walk is a short distance down the gravel lane. The hike is steep but there is space directly below the cabin on the property to park a car if necessary while using the river space. SEE aerial view of property in photos

Main Level:

Covered screen porch and adjacent deck for outdoor dining, charcoal grill.
Lower Level:
Two spacious bedrooms - one queen bed, one twin bed
Full bath/shower, private patios for each bedroom, private outdoor shower
The lower level is NOT easily accessible for folks with stair challenges.
Please note: The cabin is semi-remote, access is via a gravel road; a front wheel drive is best, an all wheel drive or 4 wheel drive vehicle is recommended in inclement weather. There is easy parking for a maximum of 2 vehicles.
The New River Preserve is a private community, and while it seems remote, it is located just 15 minutes from West Jefferson, 6 miles from the quaint town of Lansing. Both towns offer grocery shopping, good restaurants, specialty shops, easy walking and lots to see and do.
Boone and Blowing Rock are an easy drive from the cabin and worth a day trip visit. Grayson Highlands is also close by and has great non-technical hiking trails, often with ponies grazing along the trails.

This is a great, charming cabin to get away from the busyness of normal life, to relax and recharge (only 20ish-minutes drive from West Jefferson and a nice golf course). It was clean and well-stocked with possible incidentals/necessities. The host was super easy to work with. Note that there is no clothes washer or dryer, which might be the norm, but different from my few experiences.

Haven Ridge is the perfect escape! Tucked amongst the trees, the property is quiet and private but just a short drive to nearby towns.The cabin was so very clean and beautifully decorated with a mountainy vibe without feeling kitschy. It is equipped with all the modern conveniences you need including a strong WIFI. Loved the comfy screened porch and outdoor shower. The property owners provided lots of well organized information about the area and the history of the home which was helpful and so interesting (reclaimed logs from 1870)!We enjoyed exploring Lansing and West Jefferson but would have been just as happy staying put at the cabin for our entire stay!

Awesome, isolated, stocked cabin. Host is quite responsive and kind. Want a quiet, remote retreat in the woods? This place is perfect. Will be back, Lord willing!

What a great property,little hard getting up the hill in a Honda Civic but everything else was amazing. Loved everything about the cabin,little labels on things for easy use,great screened in porch,plenty of lil extras for guests. Would definitely visit again.
