Welcome to Sea Refuge! The best of both worlds, a unique location that backs up to the Currituck Wildlife Refuge yet just a short walk or drive to the beach! Nestled among the tall pines, with no neighboring houses, this brand new rustic inspired beach house sets itself apart where every window offers a picturesque view of the woods. Overlooking the wildlife refuge is an expansive screened porch creating the optimal space for bird watching and relaxation with the sights and sounds of nature. The night time is perfect for stargazing with the absence of city lights. Whether you choose to spend your days lounging on the beach, bird watching, observing the wild horses, exploring the wildlife refuge, or simply enjoying the tranquility of your surroundings, this beach house offers a one of a kind coastal experience!
This home was designed with ease in mind , only one flight of steps and all on one level! It has a cozy living room with a smart TV , sound bar and an electric fireplace. The eat-in kitchen is well equipped and has a large custom made table. There are 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms consisting of 1 spacious primary bedroom with full bathroom and a dedicated working space, 2 additional bedrooms that share the hallway bath. Each bedroom has a queen bed, smart TV, ceiling fan and its own mini split system allowing guests to customize their bedroom temperature. There is a half bath downstairs and an outdoor shower. The screened porch has a 6 seat dining table , 4 adirondack chairs , 2 side tables, a large bar like table , 2 mounted bluetooth speakers, led lighting and a compact refrigerator.
Things to do-
*The Beach! We will provide 2 beach parking passes. One of the coolest things about Carova is you can park directly on the beach , no lugging chairs, coolers etc from a parking lot . You will drive on the beach, over sand ramps and on sand roads to access the house, 4 wheel drive and airing down is a must!
*Observe the wild horses that roam free, stay 50 feet away & do not feed them.
*The wildlife refuge! It is great for exploring and hiking trails are right next to the house! In addition a False Cape hiking trail is accessible at the north end of the road.
** Our screened porch is perfect for bird watching since it looks over the refuge and stargazing at night with the absence of city lights.
**Fishing/Kayaking/Boating- Carova Beach Park is on the same road about 1 mile south, which has a boat ramp and docks for fishing
Included-- 2 beach parking passes, bed linens, bath towels, 2 hairdryers, shampoo, soap, toilet paper, dishwasher detergent, dish soap, trash bags, first aid kit, 6 beach chairs.
For fun- cornhole boards, board games, ping pong table, puzzles and books.
For grilling- Charcoal grill
Kitchen - all basic needs plus regular coffee maker, Keurig coffee maker, electric kettle, blender, crock pot, toaster, electric can opener, electric hand mixer
**Minimum age to rent is 25 years old**
**Renting on behalf of someone under the age of 25 is strictly prohibited. The primary guest making the reservation must be at least 25 years old and present during the entire stay. Any violation of this rule may result in immediate cancellation of the reservation without refund**

The house and host, Penny, were wonderful! The house is exactly as pictured and sits in a beautiful spot. We saw the horses one day at the house. The beach is a very short drive. Penny definitely made sure you felt at home and also had everything you may need there for the beach. She let us know that the house was ready early and to remember that we needed to gas up and grocery shop before getting onto the 4x4 beach. We were NOT disappointed with this house or stay. We can’t wait to come back.

This is such a great house and great location! This was our fourth stay in this part of the Outer Banks so we knew what to expect. We love the area and that sense of getting away from everything. This house is perfect for that! No neighbors and it backs up to a nature preserve? I was immediately sold!The house was so clean! Had everything we needed (and more) along with a split bedroom layout. Perfect for a couples trip or a family. The owners are so sweet and thoughtful! It’s obvious they put a lot of care into hosting. They accounted for so many little details like having extra phone charging cables, toothbrushes, and even providing a bag of charcoal for the grill! Communicating with the owners felt more like talking to a friend rather than a business transaction.We would definitely stay again and recommend this property to friends!

We highly recommend booking the Sea Refuge. This beautiful new beach house has it all; amenities, location to the beach, wild horses, and False Cape State Park. Penny was an amazing host and great to work with. Only wish we could’ve stayed longer!
