Sofitel Ras Al Khaimah Al Hamra Beach Resort

We had a really nice stay at Sofitel. We booked two rooms for our family, and both rooms were spacious, comfortable, and very well maintained. Everything was great overall from the service and food to the pool and the general atmosphere of the hotel.

The only downside was the pool bar service. I ordered two drinks but unfortunately they never arrived. Since it was extremely hot, it wasn’t ideal to walk over to the bar to follow up. Hopefully this can be improved. Other than that, everything was amazing and we really enjoyed our stay. We would definitely consider coming back!

The rooms are spacious and comfortable, and the hotel has large, beautiful swimming pools and good facilities overall. The staff also deserve credit — they were friendly and genuinely trying their best, even when they were clearly understaffed and very busy. Overall, the property itself has a lot of potential. This review is absolutely not directed at the staff working at the hotel. The employees were trying their best, often in very difficult and clearly understaffed conditions. My criticism is directed specifically at the senior management, the General Manager, and the people responsible for running and maintaining this hotel. The problems started from check-in. It was complete chaos, with only two people handling arriving guests and no separate concierge available to assist or answer questions. At a hotel of this level, management should recognize when additional support is needed and organize the team accordingly. Breakfast was probably the worst part. Tables were not cleared on time, dirty dishes and leftover food were everywhere, and food from the tables ended up all over the floor. At times, you literally had to walk around food on the floor. And again, this was clearly not because the restaurant staff were not working. They were working extremely hard. Even the restaurant manager was clearing tables himself because there were simply not enough people. A restaurant manager should be able to manage and supervise the operation, not spend breakfast clearing dirty plates because senior management has not provided enough staff. Meanwhile, the “General Manager” was sitting and having lunch, in no apparent hurry, while the situation at the front desk was complete chaos. Guests were waiting, the staff were clearly struggling, and yet this did not seem to concern him at all. This was particularly surprising to see from the person who is ultimately responsible for how the hotel operates. The cleanliness of the rooms was also disappointing. There was a huge amount of dust, and the overall standard of housekeeping was far below what I would expect from Sofitel. The pool area was also poorly maintained, with bottles and rubbish left around instead of being cleared regularly.
