Worst stay we’ve ever had in Bali unsafe access, dirty surroundings, completely disappointing

There is nothing to like, all fake.

⚠️ Extremely Disappointing Stay — Please Avoid This Place This was one of the worst family stays we’ve ever had in Bali. The property is hidden inside a narrow, dirty alley that taxis can’t find, and when it rains the whole path floods up to your ankles. We even saw a snake outside the entrance during heavy rain — completely unsafe. The rooms were poorly maintained. Mosquitoes and insects kept coming in through gaps in the ceiling. The overall environment felt uncomfortable and unhygienic. Do not book any tours or transport through the property — our experience was full of confusing pricing and unnecessary issues. The owner only appeared at check‑in and check‑out during our 6‑day stay and didn’t take responsibility for anything we raised. Several things he said about the location (like being close to the beach) were simply not true. The alleyway leading to the property is nothing like what was advertised. The pictures online are misleading. The “resort” is still under construction and looks nothing like the photos. We requested a refund through Booking.com and never received a response. I will upload photos so people can see what the property really looks like. We’ve booked through Booking.com for years, and this was the worst experience we’ve had. I would not recommend this place to anyone.

Beautiful place, highly recommended.

We stayed for a night at the property and to be honest it exceeded my expectations. The property is beautiful, room was cozy and clean. The staffs were very friendly and hospitable. They esnured we had a good time even though staying short. I wish I could have stayed more at the property. It just felt like home. We received more benefits than mentioned in the description and we were surprised and felt really special during our stay.

Hidden Gem in Seminyak

I really enjoyed my stay and extended an extra night. I loved the decor and set up of my villa. The staff were amazing, and great cooks lol. Daily massages were terrific! A quick 3min walk and you’re at the beach, a walk in the other direction and you’re at the main road in 3min. Very convenient location, comfortable bed, great shower pressure, and the animals that live at My Secret Home were honestly a treat to have around🥰 Thank you again to Mary, Yuni and the lady massage therapist (I can’t remember her name), you ladies really made my stay memorable. I was fortunate to meet the owner Sam and it was quite a pleasure. Highly recommend booking My Secret Home.

Great choice for a true “staying at your best friend’s house” experience

There is something really special about this place because it truly feels like a family home. The staff are amazing. Friendly, attentive, and genuinely caring, always making sure every wish is considered: a birthday surprise with cake, a picnic bag for the beach, fresh coconuts to your room, friendly chats, and full adjustments to our breakfast habits. Our room had a loft-style interior with a great view of the green inner courtyard! We liked it very much. Location is very good, just 150 m from the beach, bars, and the central part of Seminyak. Maximum flexibility at the Check-out.

We stayed in a second-floor room, and the sound insulation was almost absent there (noise from the street, nearby property, inner courtyard, and pets - if you are a lightsleeper, you hear it all). The pool was under repair.

Perfect for a family stay

There were so many little extra touches that really made this stay remarkable! From the free massages to free coconuts on the beach, fresh fruit & juices it was really a treat. The staff were genuinely friendly & helpful & our two children loved the fishponds, friendly dogs & other pets.

Nice quiet secluded location with easy access to the beach.

The staff could not have been nicer. The rooms were very nice and the included breakfast was very good. The dogs and cats on site were cute and friendly -- we wish we could've taken their newest puppy home with us. We would love to come back and stay again :)

Cosy, comfy and so welcoming

What a beautiful little place to find in the chaos of Seminyak. So many little touches added up to a wonderful stay that was far too short. Wish we could've stayed longer.

The only tiny critique is that the room we stayed in didn't have a balcony. The outlook was a beautiful garden and external access was directly outside the room but up and down a fairly steep flight of stairs to get to a spot you could relax outside. The other rooms had these facilities so just be sure to check when you are booking.

Amazing vibe, amazing setup and amazing staff not to forget the bird, turtle, dogs, cat and fishes.

The only issue I see is parking space and for a car to come in and out of the narrow lane. Otherwise it was manageable.

A haven in Seminyak.

Such a beautiful place to stay. So close to everything but quiet and secluded. The staff are so friendly and helpful. Provided a beautiful service that seriously you don’t get anywhere else! They provide ample cold water, beautiful fruit platters, free massages, amazing breakfasts that you can have all day and they are just so attentive without being intrusive. Love this place. very cool place with pools and trees, real hidden gem

we only got to spend 1 night here but we loved the whole vibe of the place a lot. the bathroom was amazing! bed was comfortable, we had everything we needed. plus the breakfast was super tasty and the delicious fruit! would definitely come back again for more nights. plus its super close to the beach!

if we stayed for more nights, we would probably appreciate more furniture in the room for clothes and stuff

Calm, spotless oasis with amazing staff.

Everything, the room is a large calm oasis with floor to ceiling windows into tropical garden, but private with mirrored glass. The staff added a soft overlay on request. Breakfasts were great and included in the very reasonable rate. Also included massages which were great. A 2 min walk down a lane to the beach. The dogs and cat and bird and turtle all added to the wonderful homely feel of the place. It’s small calm and quiet. I felt completely taken care of as a solo traveller.

A wonderful, relaxing, fun experience for the family

The owner and staff (in particular Jaka, Yuni and Marie) were amazing, kind, friendly and helpful throughout the stay. Our kids loved the animals (turtle, dogs, cat and bird). They were given food to feed the animals which they loved doing. Access to use a surf board/body board were great. Breakfast was lovely. Location to access the beach was perfect. The pool was lovely swim in and well shaded from the sun which provided a relaxing afternoon swim. Thank you so much for our stay - we would strongly recommend this guest house

A Really Special Place

Everything was amazing! This was our favourite accommodation we stayed in on our 2 week trip to Bali. It was so welcoming and comfortable. The staff go above and beyond to make sure you're taken care of and you feel at home. I also got to feed the turtle. 100% would book here again my next time in Seminyak.

Staff & Service The staff were incredibly friendly and accommodating throughout our stay. The owner was also very responsive via Booking.com chat and personally checked in to make sure we were enjoying the facilities. Breakfast The breakfast menu was a delightful mix of savory, sweet, healthy, and filling options. You could order as much as you liked, though preparation took around 30 minutes—worth the wait! Beach Experience When we visited the beach, we were escorted and provided with seats, coconut, and a picnic basket filled with sandwiches, fruit slices, cookies, and drinking water. A lovely touch! Complimentary Massage We received a one-time complimentary massage during our stay, which added to the relaxing experience. Ambiance & Decor The property is lush with plants and has a strong Bali vibe. Fish ponds inside and outside the room added a peaceful touch, and guests were given food to feed the koi and turtle. Pet-Friendly Atmosphere Two friendly dogs and a cat roamed the property, adding to the homely feel. Post-Checkout Hospitality Even after we checked out early on our last day, the staff allowed us to use the pool, towels, kitchen, and dining area until our midnight flight. This was incredibly thoughtful and convenient.

Noise Isolation The villas are not soundproof. On our second night, we were politely asked by a neighboring guest to lower our voices during a late-night video call. We were unaware of the thin walls and immediately stopped the call. Outdoor Bathtub While the bathtub was a nice feature, its outdoor placement meant it attracted a lot of mosquitoes. Beachfront Claim The hotel was listed as “beachfront” on the booking page, but it actually requires a 3–5 minute walk through a narrow, dark alley with a barrier gate to reach the beach. Accessibility The hotel is not directly accessible by car. Guests must walk about 2 minutes to reach the main road, which can be inconvenient for pickups and drop-offs. Price Point The rate is slightly steep, especially when compared to actual beachfront hotels in the area.

Intimate & luscious and great location!

Loved the lush, intimate setting. Having access to the kitchen for a late snack or drink was appreciated after arriving late from the airport. I didn't miss a balcony, you just head down to the courtyard to relax around the pool & open lounge area. Very close to the beach via a laneway - so you are away from the crowds and traffic.

I do like a window for fresh air, but such a spacious room having full glass windows into the garden was a gorgeous outlook. The upstairs rooms have rather steep stairs. I can imagine this would be difficult if any mobility issues.

Nice atmosphere

Position close to the beach, the atmosphere of the courtyard, the quietness. Staff is very kind though lack of English creates a barrier in their service.

As all rooms look into the courtyard, if someone wakes up early and speaks loud voice at 6.00 it wakes you up. The rooms are very dark and you can’t leave your curtains open because the staff walks pass all the time. The courtyard itself was somber. Breakfast didn’t offer a great variety.

Good location for beach. Spacious room

The staff were extremely welcoming and showed kindness. The accommodation was lovely and calming with a cat and dog. Beautiful fish in the outside area. Thoughtful picnic given when going to the beach.

The walk in the dark down the lane to the property. As a single female you always have to be vigilant at night and there wasn't a lot of light on the path. As I didn't know the place very well, I didn't feel that safe. However, maybe this is different if you know the place. There wouldn't be a problem if you were in a couple. Very close to the beach but it's the same lane to the beach and same lane out to main street- not well lit. I was also woken at 1:30am by the sound of a motorbike starting- unsure if this was in the courtyard or out in the lane.

Great place for a few nights close enough to the airport when we arrived in Bali. gave a time to settle in and explore. Walkable to Kuta and surrounds, lots of shops and warungs close by, a d the beach was a 5 min walk. The location was very quiet and hidden, no street noise at all. Breakfast was great, with our feet dangling in the pool. Would definitely stay here again.

More Than Just A Stay, It Was Love At First Visit

We had a superb holiday and truly enjoyed our stay at My Secret Home. My children and I esp love the breakfast. It was generous in portion and offered a great variety of choices. The staff were friendly and welcoming. We even received a complimentary massage, which was a lovely surprise. We had the pleasure of meeting Mr Sam, who was incredibly kind, esp to my children. One of the highlights was the delicious dessert he personally made and served. On our last day, before heading to Ubud, he gave us a pack of tasty biscuits, such a thoughtful gesture! The hospitality during our 3N4D stay truly felt like a 10star experience, and we definitely plan to return one day. We also won't forget Suzie, the friendly dog who always barked to greet us whenever we came back from sightseeing. We already miss everything about My Secret Home!

From the first greeting we felt like guests in a friend’s home. The staff were attentive yet unobtrusive, always ready to help. The villa is beautifully decorated, spotless, and full of charm. Location for backpackers - quite depressive place

The pets, very friendly. That's all.

The whole place is very dark, located in a dirty and ugly street. There is no real swimming pool, only a very small water pond. For Bali standard it is still 25% too expensive. We asked twice to book for us a taxi to the airport early in the morning but when we woke up no taxi was there, we had to order a Grab (much cheaper by the way). Was promised some refund but it t never happened. It's a cheap place of you don't have any expectation.

Loved our stay

We stayed for 3 nights. We had the villa with 2 beds, one upstairs and one tucked cosily in the corner. The staff were beautiful and made us feel so welcome, we were given free massages and breakfast each day. Location is excellent, one direction takes you on a very short walk to the beach and opposite direction directly up to many many shops and food heaven 😀 Beautiful cold swimming pool surrounded by lush gardens and very quiet with only the sound of water and birds.

It would have been really good to have a comfortable chair or 2 on the front porch. The beanbags are great to chill out in but being an older person a set of chairs would have been wonderful.

Amazing (too) short stay!

The accommodation was just perfect for our stay! The room was very clean, very comfy and decorated with love. Not only the room but also the whole Hotel! Also the staff was super friendly and kind as well as the wonderful owner of the house. He got many helpful tips for us traveling through Bali 😊 breakfast was also very delicious and made with heart. I can highly recommend staying here!
