Villa Olde Ceylon

The place, the place, the place… absolutely incredible! ✨ This hotel is a true hidden gem, with only three rooms, and the manager has created everything himself. It feels like a little oasis, and we were genuinely amazed by the amount of work, care and passion that has gone into creating such a wonderful place. But what made our stay even more special was the incredible kindness and generosity of the managers. They went above and beyond to help us, even helping us find tickets for the Kandy Esala Perahera on the very same day, despite the event being almost fully booked. They managed to find us seats at a very reasonable price, right in the front row, which made the experience absolutely unforgettable. A truly wonderful place, run by wonderful people. We couldn’t recommend it enough! ❤️

The breakfast was good and already very generous, with the team happily adapting to our preferences and requests. Perhaps it could be made even more varied and complete, but overall, we really enjoyed it. The property is slightly secluded, which is part of its charm, but it is worth keeping in mind if you arrive late in the evening. We arrived quite late on our first night and, although we had been warned that there were no restaurants nearby, we ended up having nothing to eat that evening. It would perhaps be helpful to have a small option available for late arrivals. The pool was lovely, although we found the water a little on the cool side. A slightly warmer temperature would have made it even more enjoyable! Overall, these are very minor points compared with the wonderful experience we had.

La struttura offre una vera e propria fuga dal frastuono della città, permettendo di immergersi in una piccola giungla privata di assoluta pace. La camera si è presentata in condizioni di pulizia e ordine impeccabili. Una menzione d'onore va all'host, Chana, la cui accoglienza è stata semplicemente perfetta: avendo vissuto per 20 anni ad Anacapri, ha potuto fornirci ottimi consigli in perfetto italiano, un valore aggiunto che ci ha fatto sentire davvero a casa.

Ci sono un paio di aspetti tecnici da tenere in considerazione per il soggiorno. Il primo riguarda l'umidità piuttosto importante all'interno della stanza, che purtroppo non permetteva agli asciugamani di asciugarsi tra un utilizzo e l'altro. Il secondo riguarda l'oscuramento: le tende a veneziana non riescono a filtrare adeguatamente la luce esterna. Questo fa sì che l'ambiente si illumini molto presto al mattino, anticipando inevitabilmente la sveglia con il sorgere del sole.

Loved everything about this property! Amazing rooms and decor , pool and garden- a slice of paradise in Kandy. Hosts were fantastic as was the delicious food! Definitely recommend this as a place to stay.
