The Rainforest Hideaway

As soon as we arrived, we were overwhelmed by the beauty of the nature this hotel is situated in. All the cabanas are luxurious, and they have a direct view of the river and the waterfall with a natural pool. It's also an adventure to reach the spot, starting from Deniyaya. The room (cabana) offers enough luxury for a nice time. The Sri Lankan breakfast is delicious. The hotel also offers several trips.

It took a while before we had hot water, and the towels were of poor quality. Those are things that are easy to solve.

Great location with friendly staff and excellent service.food is delicious .They provided a knowledgeable guide for the Sinharaja hike, which made the experience even better.

The road was in poor condition, making it difficult to reach the location by car or van.

The cabin was amazing! In the jungle and overlooking the river. You get to take an old jeep Indiana jones style ride up to the lodge which we all thought was super fun! The staff was so nice and kind and helpful! We felt like staying with a family! The activities were great. We did the long tour hike in forest which was really a highlight with lots of wildlife and swam in river below waterfall! We also did Lankagama nature safari hike to several waterfalls and swam in one. We swam in river at the lodge also. The beds very comfortable and good size room and bathroom. The food was good and they had games available. The lodge provided leech socks which helped on the hikes. Leeches are not disease carriers by the way so not a risk.

We truly loved everything about this place staying in was felt like a little village with locals only. It was such a beautiful area all around. The only thing that was a miss for us was the night hike, but maybe it would be different for others.

The property is beautiful, surrounded by forest, with a peaceful and natural atmosphere. The staff were kind, helpful and smiling throughout our stay, and the location itself is very special.

A few things to be aware of: the rooms do not have air conditioning, and in our opinion the food could be improved. Unfortunately, we also had a very unpleasant experience. My girlfriend noticed on two separate occasions that 5,000 Sri Lankan rupees were missing from her wallet each time. The first time, she thought she might have counted incorrectly. The second time, however, she was certain, because she noticed it when she had to pay the driver who had taken us to Colombo. Between those moments, we had not gone anywhere or made any payment that could explain the missing money. I cannot accuse anyone directly, because we did not see what happened, but after carefully going through the situation, we are sure that something was wrong. What disappointed me most was how the property handled the report: after I explained what had happened, they first replied that it was “impossible”. Later, they said they were open to discussing the matter further and mentioned the possibility of a refund. However, when I explained that my girlfriend did not wish to speak directly, but that they could still send me any message and I would forward it to her, we received no further reply. It is a pity, because apart from this incident the stay had several positive aspects.
