Bear in mind we booked our stay in February so everything was a little gloomy . But can imagine that in the spring/summer its a beautiful area with plenty of walks . Hot tub was ok (see what we didn't like). The three pigeons pub was great with a very eccentric landlord but friendly and entertaining.
Lodge number 6
Rather than just moan i put the facts. Messaged the owners through booking.com to see if we could check-in an hour early as we wanted to drop the car off and see the area before it went dark as check-in was down for 4 o'clock which really only gives you 6 hours on your arrival day to do anything and its February and gets dark early. Our reply said an extra hour would be £30 extra and two hours £50 extra . So we declined this but when we arrived there are no onsite staff and there was only one other person staying which makes me think that paying extra for what amounts to nothing extra for them to do was excessive
Then when we arrived and dropped our belongings off our first task was to empty the dishwasher which had been left full .
Then a few things of note for others to note before arriving.
-It seems that the pictures on booking.com do not give the correct impression on all the lodges as ours only had an air fryer , microwave and toaster where some of the photos show an oven and hob.
-The sofa in our lodge looked ready to collapse and had a throw on it that covered a series of odd stains.
-The main bed is only suitable for people under 6 foot as my entire half of my lower leg hung over the end of the bed and the width left something to be desired (Iam 6'-4").
- The electrics seem to have had no thought put into them as it took me i while to first find the light switch for the shower room/toilet and shower extractor fan which rather than next to the open entrance door frame were conveniently hidden behind the open door so you cant see them . Then the switch to turn on the electric shower is in the main bedroom . The outside light is on a sensor which switches off after about a minute and is the only light to illuminate the hot tub and you can sometimes wave at the sensor from one point in the tub to turn it back on .
- No instruction for any of the above which would be helpful.

After driving a far distance from Sheffield to this property arriving at 9:20pm after working all day we were excited to get into our lodge. On arrival we checked our confirmation emails which had been sent via Booking.com and North Wales Eco following doing the check in process via North Wales Eco and realised that we hadn’t received further details of how to get into our lodge. On arrival there is a large sign which has contact numbers on these match up with the ones sent on our confirmation emails after driving up to the main road due to lack of signal I rang this number multiple times with no answer. At this point we were in a difficult predicament as we were two women in a secluded area no body around and struggling for internet and signal. I then rang my partner who was at home who then continued to call the owner of the lodge trying to get an answer who then noticed the phone then began going straight to voice mail instead of giving us a dial tone. It is now 9:50pm, at this point I am driving to a safer place more lit up place with signal. Proceeded to call the owners and was on hold to Booking.com. We then finally got into contact with Booking.com and explained the situation they said they would give the owner 30 minutes to reply then proceed until then we just had to wait it was now 10:44pm. My partner proceeded to call from home whilst I was navigating finding somewhere safe to wait. After driving another 18 minutes I managed to find a safe place to park still had no response from the owners about our lodge. At 11:23pm we received an email from Booking.com informing us that;
Unfortunately, North Wales Eco Lodges has informed us they can no longer accommodate you from Check-in to Check-out due to . We are sorry about the possible impact on your plans.
Providing us with alternative accommodations which were no where near where we were and also it was nearly midnight so unlikely another property is going to secure booking meaning we’ve got no where to go.

Meadows (number 6) was perfect for two guests with a small dog. Everything you could have needed was available or thought of already, including the hot tub being on and ready for us to use immediately. Plenty of towels and extra bedding around the place if required.
The smallest of grumbles about the sofa bed, as a sofa it was a little uncomfortable to sit on but using a few extra strategically placed cushions it was resolved.
The TV was a bit small, or a bit too high for the sofa bed height to view comfortably. But these are the smallest of issues.

We absolutely loved our stay at North Wales Eco Lodges and will be back! Check in was simple with a code sent by text on the morning of check in. The lodge was spotless, a guide book with all necessary information included, location was great only a 20 minute drive to Moel Famau. The scenery and views from the lodge were unbelievable, I ate my breakfast with the sheep every morning and the sunrise and sunsets were amazing. The hot tub was great too.

Very quiet and peaceful location. Hot tub was lovely day or night.
Site was clean, lodge was clean.
Sofa and beds were very uncomfortable. The lodge is extremely small with no door between the lounge/kitchen area and bunk beds which were situated in the middle of the lodge, so our 4 year old was up until we went to sleep.
Minimal space in lounge and kitchen area made it difficult to relax.
Would not recommend 6 people to stay in this particular lodge (4) as barely space for 3/4 people.
Sofa bed was not big enough to fit two on.
The price for this was disappointing. Very expensive in comparison to other places we have stayed.

Excellent views very peaceful. Hot tub was fantastic with blue tooth speakers for music while you relax. Tv had all the channels even football which was a blessing.
The pans could do with being updated and some of the cooking utensils.

Modern property. Hot tub was great
No central heating, no oven or hob very limited to be able to cook food. Couldn’t clean up properly after ourselves as there wasn’t a dustpan or brush. Sofa was very very uncomfortable.

Quiet location with great views from the hot tub. The lodge itself was very modern and decorated to a high standard. The garden was private enough and had lots of room to be able to enjoy the surroundings.
The lodge was very dusty. It seemed like it had been cleaned but no one had been in there for a while. I also think all lodges should come with a hob to be able to cook food. You shouldn’t have to pay for a “premium” lodge just to have access to a hob. Very disappointed that there were no tea, coffee or sugar on offer either. When you’re paying that amount of money you should offer the basics. Which most places like this offer. The sofa was very uncomfortable and we got neck ache trying to watch the TV as it was so high up on the wall. Maybe lower the TV to an appropriate height or upgrade to a bigger TV. As it was rather small. The light for the hot tub didn’t work so when going in at night it was pitch black. There were solar powered security lights. But they went off when no one activated them. Maybe have a switch inside so you can turn them on and off. It’s the small things like this that make a stay enjoyable and value for money. So that was a massive let down.

The lodge was as expected. Reading previous reviews the owners have obviously listened and taken on board. Our lodge was spotlessly clean and I am fussy. Lights were on the entrance outside, so could see in the dark. A dust pan and brush were provided. Enough toilet paper, although I took my own. Dishwasher tabs, washing up liquid, sponge and tea towel provided but again I took my own. There was a folding table and folding chairs in the bedroom, for use if required when eating. There was a small bedside table, which we used in the lounge for coffees etc.
Unfortunately, I wish the owners had listened to the fact that the sofa was incredibly uncomfortable and like other guests we had to sit on cushions and were unable to sit down for long, as it was a back breaker and incredibly low. The mattress was just as uncomfortable, so we were at a loss as where to sit in comfort. As other guests have mentioned, we had the hot tub which was overlooked by the pub balcony, not ideal and our ‘garden view’ large trees, so no view and felt very enclosed. It was quite a trek to get supplies. Would have been good if the pub next door served food. Our diet for our 4 night stay left a lot to be desired. Lastly, a clothes airer would have been helpful to dry wet costumes / towels.

The accommodation was clean and well appointed. The property is advertised as tranquil but the other units were rented to a large group having a party not the tranquil evenings or the 7am wake up this morning all shouting goodbye

The property is stylish, beautiful, jacuzzi were very nice and hot all the time. Location was beautiful also and the places we wanted to visit is 1 hour far from the lodge.
Would be nice it would be a little bit cleaner, the hair in the shower, some dishes also is not clean enough, was a bit dusty, jacuzzi didn’t had pillows, would be nice if there will be some dust pan to clean the lodge while you’re staying. Also at the medow 6 there is no stove to cook something like eggs or rice etc., so would be nice if you provide electrical plate or something like that. Apart from that was everything really nice. Thank you

Nice lodge in very peaceful surroundings, ideal for some time away to relax. Great for dogs as well. Nice walks nearby. Hot tub was brilliant and well maintained throughout the stay. Nearest town Ruthin a short car journey has all the amenities you need, shops, takeaways, pub etc.
As mentioned in other reviews, greater attention to detail and better cleaning is needed, particularly in kitchen, bathroom and floors. Some of the soft furnishings stained could do with replacing.

The cabin was perfect and the views exceptional, hot tub was a great added bonus.
One curtain smelt of slight wee due to dogs been in there. We had a dog too so didn’t expect it to be perfect we just sprayed the curtain and it went away.

Cockroaches in kitchen!! Watch out for Lodge 8 particularly.
Please see complaint below which indicates countless issues. Definitely not family friendly and responded denying most accountability. Health and safety hazard.
We wish we would have looked at the countless reviews about lack of cleanliness rather than the star rating.
I'm going to have to go through my credit card company as we paid hundreds for an unclean lodge on site that did not meet description.
Further to your conversation with my partner this morning about our stay over the last few days, I wanted to elaborate on a few issues raised and make a formal complaint. Sorry, we have just been driving home hence the waiting time.
Initially, our first impression of the lodge was pleasant regarding the décor and the surrounding area, however on a closer look we did begin to notice some issues with cleanliness which you would not expect (particularly with a £100 cleaning charge). The floors and windows were dirty (inside and out) as was the top of the oven and around the windows. The fridge and freezer had not been cleaned and had food from previous occupants ( including old milk which was not pleasant and again dangerous with a toddler around). The welcome pack was initially a nice touch, however when our child asked to have the Pringles, all that remained (presumably from a previous guest) wre crumbs which took the sparkle away from the gesture and is far from the “luxury” mentioned in the advertisements.
We initially noticed that the neighbours in 7 were fairly loud on our first night (mainly shouting and some swearing). We tried to block this out as not to ruin our holiday (even though it had been sold to us as a "peaceful hideaway") and went in the hot tub with the bubbles on to attempt to drown them out. It was the second night that particularly caused issues.

We had an amazing time, the lodge was spotless and the hot tub was checked everyday. Whenever contacting the property, the staff were lovely and very quick to help. An amazing view and location would highly recommend to everyone!!

We really enjoyed our stay at the eco lodge. The property was modern, spacious, and very comfortable throughout. We especially appreciated the private use of the hot tub—it was a lovely way to relax. The self-check-in process was also really convenient, and it was great to be able to arrive and settle in without needing to go through a reception etc. Overall, a great stay!
One thing we didn’t like was the limited time we actually got to enjoy the lodge. Although we booked a 2-night stay, check-in wasn’t available until 4pm on the first day and check-out was required by 10:30am on the last day. This really only gave us one full day to make the most of the experience.
We also understand the importance of keeping the lodge clean, but considering we paid a cleaning fee upfront, it felt a bit much to also be asked to strip the beds, gather towels, and tidy everything up before leaving—especially with such an early check-out. It made the final morning feel rushed and more like we were doing chores than winding down from a relaxing break.

Lovely peaceful property in a very scenic area. The amount of good quality towels that we had was by far the best I’ve ever come across in a place Ive stayed in. WiFi was outstanding, and the jacuzzi was great with the added bonus of Bluetooth connection.
If I had to choose anything and this is just me being picky now because I would go back right now if I could. The only thing I would say of our cabins jacuzzi was it was a bit open to the public compared to other people’s jacuzzis as they had a roof over there’s and ours didn’t but this is me being very nit picky and was a problem at all.

The property was really nice, good size for just the two of us. Really good location and accessible.
The floor was a bit dirty, and assume the flooring needed redoing as it was peeling slightly with air bubbles underneath.
Wished there were bug screens as we kept getting hornets and insects in the lodge when we kept the windows open for ventilation. So had to resort to staying in the heat apart from nighttime when we kept all the lights off with the door open to avoid attracting moths just to keep it cool.

Holiday review: North Wales Eco Lodge
We recently stayed at a North Wales eco lodge and while the setting was beautiful, several aspects of our experience left us disappointed.
The location itself is truly lovely – surrounded by peaceful countryside and stunning scenery, it’s a great place to unwind. There’s also a quaint pub at the top of the hill, which adds charm to the area. However, please note that they no longer serve food. This was a bit of a letdown as the menu still on display looked amazing, so it’s worth knowing in advance to avoid disappointment. The owner was really friendly and they had a good selection of drinks on offer to enjoy in the spacious beer garden.
The lodge had potential but fell short in several key areas. Upon arrival, we noticed what seemed to be curry stains on the kitchen liner and visible stains and black marks on the settee. The settee itself was very uncomfortable – you could feel all the springs coming through, and it’s definitely due for replacement. No relaxed evening in the cabin for a change would be possible due to this. There was one small TV in the kitchen and living room area. However, the poor placement and size made it awkward to watch. Could do with being on a moveable arm perhaps so you could angle the screen for easy viewing, if the lack of space prevents a bigger TV. Another small TV in the bedroom area would be great too and there is plenty of space for this to be added.
Cleanliness in general was lacking: the air fryer was full of grease and needed cleaning before use, the dish drainer had black residue underneath that should have been addressed. The microwave also needed a good clean prior to usage as this was also in a poor state with food splatter all along the sides and top of the microwave, again this needed to have been addressed. At the start of a "relaxing break" you don't expect to have to do a full clean of the property or equipment before you can relax.
See above.

The Lodge was modern and comfortable, pretty well equipped.
Hot tub was great and a lovely gentleman came to clean it and check PH levels during our stay.
Comfortable beds, airfryer was a added bonus.
It could of been cleaned a little better, quite dusty and bits on floor. Better quality toilets roll is needed and frying pan.
Above would not stop us from booking again, just a little attention needed.

Lodge was lovely and clean. Very comfortable double bed.
The sofa is most uncomfortable! Very low and lumpy..had to sit on cushions! Also quite a few stains on it..could look at being replaced…no where comfortable to sit and relax. Also chairs at the breakfast bar are too high…not easy to eat at the bar and no where else to eat.

The location was good for site seeing
Garden was seperate, not ideal with two dogs. i feed this back to be told it clearly shows logde 4 has a separate garden on website . Thats fine, but all we did was book a lodge with hot tub, you dont know which lodge you have booked until arrival ? also shows on website a cooker only had airfryer ? website needs to be more clear.
Also a brush or hoover is required

On first impression, it's very very nice. the hot tub was fantastic and clean and bed was very comfortable.
Having to pay £200 a night which included a £100 cleaning fee you would expect it to be immaculate it wasn't. Stains 9n the floor in the kitchen area which isn't too bad it happens, but going in the bathroom it was dirty like it never been hoovered in there all around the edges were loads of hair and dirt. Plus had no storage for clothes didnt have one wardrobe and didnt have a cooker but did have a air fryer but was very disappointed.
