We had a mostly pleasant stay at the rental apartment, despite a few hiccups. The location was excellent, nestled in a vibrant neighbourhood with plenty of shops and dining options nearby. Accessibility to public transport made getting around a breeze. Communication with the host was good, as they were responsive and addressed most of our concerns promptly.

However, my experience wasn't without challenges. The building was undergoing heavy electrical works, which resulted in a considerable amount of noise throughout the weekdays. Additionally, we encountered a roof leak above the bed, which necessitated a quick call to the host. While they were helpful, it was an inconvenience. On one occasion, the fuse was tripped, and we didn’t have the correct key to access the fuse box, leading to some frustration. To top it off, on our last day, we found ourselves locked out of the apartment due to the host using a different lock from the one we had. We were also confused with the bedding - no duvet cover, just sheets on both sides was new setup for us and not the most pleasant.

Fantastic location

The apartment didn’t feel properly clean when I arrived. I cook when I travel, and it seemed as if the plates, cutlery, and pots hadn’t been used or washed in quite a while — nothing felt freshly cleaned. There was also a persistent smell coming from the bathroom. I love old buildings — I live in one back home — so I’m used to the typical older-property scents. But this was different, more like a sewage smell, and it made the space less comfortable. The bed was much too firm for me. After a long work trip, I really needed a good night’s sleep, and I struggled to rest properly, which made going back to work the next day quite stressful.
