Chalets Etang sur Arroux

Ruhige Lage, trotz Eisenbahn und Strasse in ca. 200m Entfernung. Durch Erdwälle gedämmt. Schöne Aussicht, in der Nachbarschaft haben Kühe geweidet. Insektengitter . Ausstattung Küche, Bad war vollständig

Keine Vorhänge, Gartenbank mit Tisch sehr brüchig, ebenso der Handlauf beim Eingang.

We stayed four nights as a family of four. The chalet is simply furnished and located just on the outskirts of the small town. The public swimming pool had alas closed the day before in preparation for the return to school. There are a number of other wild swimming spots a short drive away. This is deep France. The local population, and your neighbours if staying, are cows. There are a few restaurants and shops in Etang, otherwise head into Autun for a wider selection of places to eat and such. Overall this was a very relaxing place to stay with wonderful night skies. The coffee maker provided is the Senseo system so do bear that in mind. The only other negative was the quality of the pillows provided but France, despite my love for it, has never really appreciated the comfort and pleasure of abundant, fluffy pillows! Bah.

Pillows were the only (small) problem.

Bien dans l’ensemble

The hosts have done up 2 old chalets previously owned by the Commune (town/village). Lots of effort put into it, and to good effect. It's well-equipped, beds ok, bathroom and shower excellent. Quiet location facing fields, with (a decaying) picnic table, and a veranda with chairs and table (for 2) for a restful evening outside, watching cows and wildlife. A quiet small village with some facilities - and a Pizza distributor, if all else fails!

Unlike other hosts, we weren't given any directions, and arrived late because of it. It would have been easy, given it's next to the Swimming pool, which is signed from the road. Owner rang us as we were a bit later than anticipated, still didn't explain where to go, google sent us wrong way entirely. Can be hard at the end of a tiring day. The chalet is old - subsidence on one side, like the tower of Pisa! My room's shutter mechanism was falling apart. My friend was bothered by a buzzing insect noise in the roof throughout the night. Charged quite a bit extra for linen, as we stayed only 2 nights.
