Hard for my son to find in the dark

A spacious two-bedroom unit with a usable kitchenette, a washing machine, and a generous breakfast supply (eggs, muffins, bread, cereal, milk). Good for a family. The host replied politely and explained his reasoning when we raised an issue.

A heads-up for EV owners: charging from the property isn't permitted, even with a low-amp certified portable charger and an offer to pay for the power at the unit's own meter. The host cites his insurer. This isn't mentioned in the listing, and the nearest charger a Type 1 car (e.g. an imported Leaf) can use is in Bethlehem, 10–15 km away. With a short-range EV, every outing has to start and end there. The rule was a little hard to square with the rest of the setup: two oil column heaters, a fridge running on an extension cord, and a microwave and benchtop oven sharing one double socket. Average Wi-Fi, cellular signal, and shower. Non-refundable booking, and the host wasn't able to shorten the stay once the charging issue came up, so check the EV situation before you book.

Very comfortable accommodation in a quiet rural area only 10min away from nearby beach and ferry to Matakana Island.

Some extra hooks in the bathroom would be useful for towels and clothes while washing. The WiFi was very weak outside of the main lounge area.

We liked that the accommodation was pet friendly. Having some muffins and cereal provided was a bonus. Entry instructions were clear.

Unfortunately the wifi was not sufficient with it just able to support a connection to the TV and not much else. Heating was from portable oil heaters. A heat pump would really help.
