Kaliningrat Cottage 1

We had a really enjoyable stay at Kaliningrat Cottage 1. The location is perfect if you’re planning to visit Tumpak Sewu waterfall, as it’s very close and easy to access early in the morning. The views around the property are beautiful, especially of Mount Semeru. The room was clean, spacious, and comfortable, with good air conditioning and hot water. It’s not a luxury place, but everything you need is provided and it feels cosy and well-maintained. What really stood out was the hospitality. The staff and owner were incredibly friendly and helpful, making the stay feel very welcoming and personal. The breakfast was simple but sufficient, and it was convenient to have food available on site. Overall, this is a great value-for-money option, especially for a short stay or if you’re exploring the nearby waterfalls. Highly recommended for travellers who prioritise location, cleanliness, and warm service.

Just be aware: The access is slightly uphill, which might be a bit challenging for some guests. It is next to the main road, so can be noisy.

Excellent location. Clean room with decent hot water and air conditioning. A nice breakfast is provided so you can fuel up before/ after your hike at Tumpak Sewu and Gua Tetes. Staff are friendly and help you with your luggage.

My bed was a bit creaky at one side but nothing major. Just note that you will hear morning prayers and vehicles of travellers departing from property in the early morning to Tumpak Sewu so please use ears plugs if you wish to sleep in for a bit.
