Arnez Tropical Cottage

Staying at this family‑run homestay near Sewu Waterfall was absolutely one of the best experiences during our Java trip. Nestled among lush tropical plantations, the location is incredible. We could see the smoking volcano towering over the village right from our bungalow and the open‑air dining terrace. The whole property is beautifully laid‑out, with cozy private bungalows, well‑kept gardens, a lovely swimming pool, and a spacious rooftop restaurant with panoramic mountain views. Run by a warm local family, the service is heartfelt and genuine. The homemade food served here is surprisingly delicious — we enjoyed hearty breakfasts with local fresh fruits, and tasty Indonesian dishes for our meals. It is extremely convenient for visiting Sewu Waterfall, just a short drive away. Rooms are clean and comfortable, the night atmosphere is peaceful, surrounded by tropical greenery. If you are exploring the waterfalls and volcanoes around Lumajang, this hidden gem is highly recommended. We would love to come back again.

Nice looking cottage on the outside. Landscaped gardens. Dining area on the second floor was very pleasant with views of surrounding village and Mt Semeru.

Place was not well maintained. There were sweet wrappers outside my cottage when we arrived and were still there when we checked out 2 days later. Soap dish at basin looked filthy. Bed was lumpy. We asked staff to lend us a knife to cut up a mango. They told us we can find what we need in the kitchen on the 2nd floor. We happily went there to help ourselves. But what we found was a rather dirty kitchen, and a pot of uncovered fried rice. We made sure to only eat hot cooked food for breakfast..

Schöne Räume und nette Anlage. Von der Terrasse des Restaurants bei gutem Wetter tollen Blick auf den Vulkan. Unsere Tochter hatte hier auf Reisen ihren Geburtstag gefeiert und das Hotel hat uns geholfen eine Geburtstagstorte zu organisieren. Ist sehr nah bei den Wasserfällen

Die Zimmer sind sauber, aber in Bad dich es sehr unangenehm nach Chemie. Hatten wir allerdings oft auf Java. Die Gesamtanlage könnte mehr Pflege gebrauchen: der Pool war total veralgt uns die Fliesen zum Teil abgebrochen. Die Verständigung ist schwierig, da niemand wirklich Englisch spricht. Wir wollen Wäsche waschen lassen. Und was uns anfangs als zeitlicher Rahmen zugesagt würde, wurde selbst bei mehrfachen nachfragen kaum geschafft und an Ende mussten wir einen Teil feucht einpacken und kamen später los als gedacht.
