Ocean Queen Palace Poovar

It was very clean and comfortable, the staff team were very friendly and nice.

Food facilities is not as good as expected

Room was neat & clean. Toilet also fairly good; but no hot water facility. Good air-conditioning. Staff's behaviour was very good, esp Sandra & the manager. Pool seems very good, but we didn't use it. Beach was just 50 m from the compound.

The property is quite different from what the Booking.com photos may suggest. The main building shown in the pictures faces the road, while a separate rear building faces the sea. The actual layout is difficult to understand until you visit. The surrounding neighbourhood was unpleasant, and the beach area was dirty, with litter and even an animal carcass was visible.. I had booked a sea-view room in the main building but was asked to shift to the rear building to accommodate a group booking. All five rooms there are on the ground floor, directly below a large dining-hall-type area. The noise at night from people walking, dragging chairs and talking was extremely disturbing. Conversations outside were also clearly audible inside the room. The room was basically a standard double room with a standard-size double bed. Despite the attractive false ceiling and LED lighting, basic amenities were lacking: no cloth hangers or even provision !!! only one towel, no tea/coffee sachets with the kettle, and no mini-fridge. An additional towel requested was never provided. Breakfast was very basic—dosa, idli and bread, with not even an egg option. We found the property overpriced for what was offered. We had booked two nights but checked out after breakfast the next morning because of the overall experience. No refund was given due to the non-refundable policy. Summary: attractive presentation, but disappointing in terms of amenities, noise, surroundings and value for money.
