Roots Retreat

I had such a wonderful stay here! The place itself is beautiful and has such a great vibe. Every morning we enjoyed a delicious breakfast spread, which quickly became one of my favorite parts of the day. The pool and outdoor gym were fantastic for relaxing and staying active, and the in-house massage was a real treat. This has definitely become one of my top favorite stays in Sri Lanka so far.

The only minor downside was that on certain nights i could hear party music from surrounding areas, but it was easily solved with earplugs.

Es ist ein wunderbarer Ort. Kate und Simon haben uns sehr herzlich aufgenommen und uns sogar kostenlos statt nur des Familienzimmers noch ein Doppelzimmer zusätzlich gegeben. Es gibt einen kleinen feinen Pool, der Garten ist sehr gepflegt, das Essen ist großartig, insbesondere das Frühstück. Das retreat ist sehr großzügig angelegt, die Zimmer sind sehr stilvoll eingerichtet und die ganze Atmosphäre ist entspannend und familiär. Kate und Simon geben einem wertvolle Tipps und organisieren auch mal die Tuk tuk Fahrer . Von dort kommt man schnell nach Unawatuna oder auch Galle und Ahangama . Es war so schön, dass wir einen Tag verlängert haben.

Very spacious and clean, with a pool, natural pond, and an open-air workout area with gym equipment. It was also great for remote work, with very fast and reliable WiFi, a desk and chair in the room, and common areas where it was easy to sit and work. Beautiful and peaceful place surrounded by nature, while still only around 10 minutes from town, the beach, restaurants, and shops by tuk tuk or car. Breakfast was generous and delicious, and it was great that lunches, dinners, and other services could also be arranged at reasonable prices. Kate and Simon were amazing hosts, very caring, helpful, and supportive, and the staff on site were always very friendly and kind.

I am absolutely thrilled to share my exceptional experience at Roots Retreat. Every aspect of our stay was perfect, leaving us with unforgettable memories and a strong desire to return. From the moment we arrived, we were captivated by the serene and beautiful environment. The design of the hotel is a masterful blend of aesthetic appeal and cozy comfort, creating a uniquely charming atmosphere. The heart and soul of this place, however, are its inhabitants. The wonderful hotel residents—three graceful cats, one playful dog, and three majestic peacocks—added a magical and delightful touch to our visit. Our heartfelt thanks especially to Monica at the hotel, whose genuine love and care for these animals is evident and truly heartwarming to see. It’s clear they are not just pets, but cherished members of the hotel family. Our room was exceptionally comfortable and designed with great taste. Every detail was considered to ensure a restful stay. Most impressively, despite the many animals, our room and the entire hotel were impeccably clean and completely odourless—a true testament to the staff's dedication and meticulous attention to detail. Our admiration extends to the entire hotel staff, who were incredibly friendly and attentive. The personalized service was outstanding; the owner generously recommended numerous itineraries and activities for us, which greatly enriched our trip. The attention to detail was impeccable. Despite the animal friends, the entire hotel was spotlessly clean and completely odorless. Our room was beautifully designed and supremely comfortable, providing a perfect haven for relaxation. Furthermore, the food was utterly delicious, with every meal being a highlight. We were thoroughly satisfied with everything and cannot stop singing its praises. This is more than just a hotel; it's a wonderful experience. We will definitely be back and highly recommend it to anyone seeking a unique, caring, and luxurious getaway.
