Adequate accommodation, lovely part of the town, deposit process unacceptable

It is a lovely old quaint property with a winding staircase right in the heart of the old town. It was perfectly adequate for us on a one night stay whilst en route to the alps. Basic but comfortable.

We received an email on the day of travel itself asking to pay a 300 euro deposit to secure entry to the property. Luckily I saw this email (despite travelling). Having paid this at 5pm UK time and then driving to the property nobody was there to meet us on arrival. We hadn't received a code for the keybox. It was -2 degrees and we were left outside. We tried numerous telephone numbers on the reservation listing but there was no answer. Finally we got through and they asked us to pay the deposit. I told them we had done it 4 hours ago and then they finally gave us the keycode for the keybox. This was 2nd January 2026 and I finally got the deposit back on 22nd January 2026 having had to chase it up.

Useless Host and Booking.com

Nothing

Never received a code for key box. Called the host several times, even sent WhatsApp message & email but no answer, while we were freezing outside. At 17:30 (1.5 hours waiting) we gave up & went to a proper hotel in Reims. At 18:20 the host sent a message asking my booking details such as the booking ref, accommodation name, my ID., despite it was communication within the Booking.com app with the property name written on top!! On top of that he asked us to pay the deposit even we paid for the accommodation via Booking.com. Called the customer service of Booking.com UK, but the automated machine said they were having technical issues, thus no help. I have asked the full refund to the Booking.com but their first response was my booking ref & location etc, when I actually forwarded the accommodation confirmation email with all the details to complain. I have been chasing for an answer & the fully refund but so far no one cares and no answer. The worst ending of 2025!!

Les 300 € de caution, Equipements cuisine insuffisant (1 seul verre de vin par ex) Tv trop grande vu la taille du salon Douche endommagée, aucun porte serviette, ni porte manteau Matelas double très mou, sensation d'être cassé en deux au réveil Serrure de la porte d'entrée doit être graissée

Trotz Treppe gern hier gewohnt

Es war ein schönes, helles und sehr ruhiges Appartment mit tollem Blick ins grüne Tal. Die Lage war perfekt.

Nach langem Suchen fanden wir das Haus (es ist in der Nähe des Rathauses > Hotel de Ville <). Als wir ankamen glaubten wir nicht, dass in diesem, menschenleeren und einsturzverdächtigem Gemäuer ein Wohnen möglich sei. Leider hatten wir die Sache mit der kleinen Schlüsselbox nicht durchschaut. Deshalb riefen wir den Host ??? an. Eine kaum zu verstehende Frauenstimme redete auf mich ein (ob französisch oder englich konnte ich nicht erkennen). Dann war Ruhe. Ich versuchte noch ein paar Mal anzurufen, immer Anrufbeantworter. Das Treppenhaus mit einer sehr, sehr engen Wendeltreppe war total ungepflegt.

Le point positif : l'eau chaude, lit propre. Emplacement pratique.

Le reste: tringle de rideau, pommeau de douche tombent seuls, douche pas propre, 4 fourchettes, équipement de cuisine on ne peut plus sommaire, une couche de calcaire partout y compris dans la bouilloire, bref.

Pas grand chose !!

Logement qui manque de propreté!!! Fuite d eau ayant trempé le lit d une des chambres la rendant inutilisabl, .une fenêtre cassée! Plaque électrique hors du temps... Le chauffage...ou tu meures de chaud ou tu cailles... et j en passe Ce Logement aurait besoin d' un.bon coup de rénovation et de ménage ! Il serait bon également de signaler l escalier en colimaçon étroit et raide Logement au second. Le parking gratuit... penser à sortir toutes les 1h30 de 8 h à 12h00 et de 14h à 18h00.

meubles sous évier cuisine et salle de bains vétustes tout abîmés - douche vétuste et sale - radiateurs sales - Immeuble vétuste avec montée escaliers en colimaçon dur à monter - plaque de cuisson de camping - pas de chauffage permanent chauffage électrique à brancher - Vaisselle, serviettes et draps non lavés car étiquetttes encore dessus.
