Springhill Lodge is well-equipped and lovingly furnished and decorated by the owners to make you feel at home and ready to relax as soon as you arrive.

Within the village of Idridgehay is the quaint little Idridgehay train station - why not leave your car at The Lodge and travel by steam along the Ecclesbourne Valley railway aboard a majestic steam train for a day out in Wirksworth or Duffield, with optional onboard dining experiences. For those who enjoy a local walk, take a 1.5 mile walk from Springhill Lodge across the footpaths to the village of Kirk Ireton where you will find a friendly grade II listed public house next to the local store (however, beware not to pass it by since it is not your obvious looking watering hole). The historical village of Wirksworth is only 3 miles away and is home to a well-established art and architecture trail, arts festival every September and has a range of cafes and restaurants. Just a 15 minute drive away is Carsington Water and the popular town of Ashbourne. Also close by is the Peak District town of Matlock, together with its neighbour, Matlock Bath, which are set in the beautiful wooded gorge of the river Derwent. Matlock offers a range of shops, pubs, and restaurants as well as a whole host of other exciting attractions. Magnificent views down the gorge can be enjoyed from the cable car, which takes visitors up to the Heights of Abraham - a great place for all the family! South of the town is the start of the High Peak Cycle Trail, whilst to the north lie the market town of Bakewell, Haddon Hall and Chatsworth House - not to be missed! Close by Belper, situated in the Derwent Valley Mills World Heritage site, is a town with a long and famous history dating back to the 13th century, when it was then called Beaurepaire (beautiful retreat), a name that still holds today. Now you’ll find it to be a spirited and bustling town, with attractions including the North Mill, Long Row and the River Gardens. There is a thriving local music and arts scene, and the town hosts an annual Arts festival every May as well as winter and summer food festivals and a monthly farmers’ market.

We enjoyed our stay at The Lodge. Our hosts had thought of everything from well equipped kitchen to welcome basket for us and our dog. The views from the lodge were amazing. It was peaceful, yet 5 minutes from the petty market town of Wirksworth. Our hosts were very friendly. We are already planning to return later in the year.

We just came back from a week-long stay at the lodge and we had an amazing time. The lodge is warm and cosy, stylish and exceptionally clean. It’s very comfortable and well thought through. The views are amazing and it’s very peaceful. The bed was super comfy and the shower was fab. We really couldn’t fault the place. Rachel and James were extremely friendly. They popped by to say hello, but then let us get on with our holiday. It was a really fab place to stay and we would recommend it!

My wife and I wanted somewhere nice to stay in the Peak District for my 50th birthday. We chose this place based on the photos and we weren't disappointed. The location was beautiful. Very quiet with stunning views for miles. The interior is tastefully done - very comfortable with everything you could need. There was even a welcome pack for the dog! We were very lucky with the weather for the whole weekend and even saw the Northern Lights! Trish and Mark (and their lovely dogs) were very friendly and accommodating and made us feel very welcome. The next time we visit the Peak District we will without doubt book this place again. It had everything we needed. Cris and Jen
