An Unforgettable Stay in Puerto Viejo I recently had the pleasure of staying at this exceptional hotel in Playa Grande, Puerto Viejo, and I simply cannot find the words to express how amazing my experience was. Hospitality Beyond Compare Sebastian, the owner, and his entire staff are nothing short of incredible. The level of care, attention, and warmth they provide is truly unmatched. From the moment I arrived, I felt genuinely welcomed and valued. Every interaction with the team reflected a genuine commitment to making my stay unforgettable. Their hospitality is on another level—I have zero words that do it justice. Perfect Location & Amenities The hotel’s location is incredibly convenient, situated within walking distance of Playa Grande beach. It’s the perfect spot for easy access to the beach without needing transportation. Outstanding Breakfast & Dietary Accommodations The breakfast was fantastic! But what really stood out was how seriously Sebastian and his team took my food allergies. They were extremely careful and thoughtful about cross-contamination, ensuring every meal was safe and delicious. It’s rare to find that level of attentiveness to dietary needs, and it made all the difference. Final Verdict I 110% recommend this place with zero hesitation. KAÑIK is magical! Sebastian, Javier and crew made our experience beyond amazing. The service they provided felt like having a personal concierge. Want a dinner restaurant recommendation? They’ve got you! Not sure of the best transportation options? No problem! Want a Spanish conversation partner? You got it! The hotel itself is very intimate with only 7 casitas and surrounded by the most thoughtful landscaping to provide privacy on each house’s patio. The electrical is a bit funky. Mind you, electricity only became available to that region in the ‘80’s, so it makes sense that there might be capacity/load issues. It was typical for that entire region. Despite that, the accommodations are fabulous. And the beach. No words for that! Approximately 150 meters to walk there.

I liked everything about this property

Although not close to many amenities- we managed very well without a car for 4 nights - used the local bus at the end of the road & Uber - hotel opposite has a bar & restaurant but equally happy to make a few meals. Pool was great, enjoyed the stay. Breakfast fabulous! Walked to Manzanillo & enjoyed the quiet beach.
