Overall, it’s a good place to stay, but be aware that the walls are quite thin, so you can hear footsteps and other noises. It’s especially noticeable when people are going up and down the stairs

This place is a hotel above a restaurant. The room was hilariously tiny, even by Japan standards; essentially enough space for the linen on the floor, and that's it. Didn't see any staff till maybe 10 min before leaving. But it's a reasonably affordable place in an expensive town, so I think it's a good option still.
