Guesthouse Kincha 駅東口

大家さんはすごく話しやすくて親切な方でした！

First time I stayed at this guest house and it was an excellent experience! Most of the hotels around Utsunomiya Station are a bit expensive, so I decided to try out this guest house because the price was just way too good to pass up. The owner was very kind and we talked quite a bit about our shared interest in basketball. (I was there to cheer on my son's basketball team who had a tournment in town.) We spoke in Japanese, so I don't know if the owner knows English well or not, but most of his communications with me on booking.com were in English, so I don't think there is a language issue. The bunk bed provided was comfortable and had great black-out curtains to block out light (and give good privacy.) I had fun talking with other visitors staying in my same room. No towel(s) were provided, but can be purcahsed for a very cheap (100 yen) price. The location was super close to the train station.

Not many negatives to talk about. I think the pillow provided was a bit too high for comfort, but not enough so to feel like needing to ask for a different one. The shower facilities were fine, but there was no air conditioner in it, so I could imagine it might be too hot in summer and too cold in winter. (I stayed in early June and the temperatures inside/outside were just perfect, so it wasn't an issue for me.)
