Emir Guest House in Karakol

This guesthouse is run by the cutest auntie/uncle mama/papa couple! We loved talking and joking with them - they always made us laugh! Jibek and Askar were super sweet and very helpful with all questions we had. They always recommended the most affordable places or ways to do things. They would tell us about taxi prices and then say it's expensive and to take the marshrutka instead. They told us about best places to buy certain souvenirs and when we compared prices while shopping, their recommendations really were the cheapest. The room is spacious and the bed was super comfortable - we slept SO WELL there. Laundry was available at 500som per load and when I remarked it was a bit expensive she gave me a discount since I was doing two loads. Breakfast is available at 500som per person which includes eggs and sausages, a salad, and delicious bread and homemade jam. We didn't order breakfast but Jibek would offer us some bread and jam anyway. Tea in the evenings is also often offered to us if we wanted a chat. The location is a 15-20 minute walk to town which was not a big deal to us. The guesthouse is off the main road which meant it stayed quiet. We enjoyed our 4-day stay so much that after we returned from a few days from Jyrgalan we stayed another 3 days there. Jibek and Askar I will miss you two! 😘

Incredible hospitable owners and helpful! Made us feel like home!

I was simply amazed by the entire compound. Starting from the entrance, you step into an old/ authentic passage that leads to a spacious environment - plenty with beautiful bedrooms that offer a stunning view of the mountains. I got incentivized to book this place via fellow travelers along the way, which I thanked afterwards for bringing me to such (almost overlooked) gem in Karakol. The hosts, have their way also, to make you laugh and feel at home. I highly recommend you pay a visit, and see it for yourself.

The owners are really friendly and helpful, they can organise anything that you need. The guesthouse is located in a quiet part of town but is easy to walk into the centre of Karakol, get a taxi, or bus as its near the main road.
