i contacted the property before booking and arranged a room that was interconnecting i was told to book these rooms and it would be arranged the lady even called me back to confirm this, when we arrived we were put in 2 totaly different rooms not interconnecting, not even next to each other they were across the corridor 2 rooms apart with 2 drunk men jn a room inbetween that kept coming out if the room to stare at the children. went down to speak to slmone to be told there is nothing that can be done and there isnt rooms like that. i wouldnt have booked it if this had been said when i called up. Ended up having to drag 2 kids half.way across Birmingham to find another hotel at short notice

We booked a double room for Valentine’s night as a couple, as clearly confirmed on our reservation. On arrival, we were unbelievably handed a linen cupboard key instead of our actual room key, which immediately set the tone for the level of disorganisation.
When we were finally given the correct key and entered the room, we discovered it was a twin room — not the double room we had specifically booked and paid for.
The situation was made significantly worse by the manager, Louise, who was rude, dismissive, and completely unhelpful. She insisted that Booking.com only provides the guest’s name and not the room type — which is simply not credible. Rather than taking responsibility or attempting to resolve the issue properly, she chose to argue and deflect blame.
This completely ruined what was meant to be a special Valentine’s evening. The room itself was also in poor condition, with tired, shabby décor and a filthy carpet, adding to the overall disappointment.
This was an unacceptable experience from start to finish. We would strongly advise others to avoid.

This was our second stay at the Cotteridge Inn while we were carrying out house repairs. The location is genuinely convenient: just one train stop from home, with restaurants and shops nearby, plus bus stops within easy walking distance.
This stay was nowhere near as comfortable as our previous visits. The toilet seat was broken, and one of the windows wouldn’t close properly, letting in constant cold draughts that chilled the bedroom throughout winter nights. Most concerning, I woke up with multiple bites consistent with bedbugs and later developed an allergic reaction that required a GP visit. As a precaution, we sanitised all our clothes when we left, worried about bringing anything home with us.

Perfect location for a trip to Cadbury World to break up our trip from north to south. Rooms were clean and a decent size and had everything we needed for a one night stop off. Close to Cadbury World plus walking distance to a good curry house and a great cafe for breakfast the next morning. Good value.
The rooms were great value and we weren't hoping for anything more than clean comfy beds and a decent shower, which we got, but facilities were pretty basic - tea/coffee making in the room, a couple of hooks in the bathroom and a table light or two would have been great.

Lovely staff, rooms were very clean and tidy
Loved that they have triple rooms, we were a group of 12 and all felt comfortable in the rooms
10/15 mins out from broad street where we spent our night and taxi cost less than £20 so great for party nights
Only a couple down points .. no glasses in rooms so when we got back from a night out bar was closed so no way of having a drink
Tv didn’t work properly but we didn’t really spend much time in the room so wasn’t a problem

This was my second stay, and once again it was a great experience. Check-in was quick and easy, the room was very clean, and it was nicer than the previous time. Everything was comfortable and just as expected. I’d definitely stay here again! It’s also very close to the train station, which makes it super convenient.

Electric heater was loose and hanging on 1 bracket only. Did not heat room enough. TV on wall but no TV remote provided. No bedside lamp. Shower screen came off rail at one end during normal use

Ideal for a short stopover and all you needed for the stay and facilities at a hand
Good breakfast
Staff lovely
Only thing would have been a kettle in the room with some accessories
But this not essential especially at the cost of the room

The bedrooms themselves were clean enough, the pillows were fresh and the carpet new.
The person who checked us in was pleasant
Sadly there was a strong smell of pot/smoke in the corridors and an overpowering bleach/smoke/broccoli/mould smell in the bathroom of the family room and no working fan to clear the smell so we barely used it- we think it was from a neighbour smoking in their bathroom and no ventilation
Staff were openly arguing with each other late in the evening so felt like we couldn’t ask any questions about our stay when we needed to, was quite awkward, and earlier in the day at check in no one we asked seemed to know the late night entry code, or really have much to do with the hotel part of the inn which made things a bit confusing.
Received strange text messages before the payment date asking details about payment and my personal details, pushing me for information outside of booking.com even though was agreed to be paid for later - ended up paying earlier than agreed, directly through booking.com as I was stressed my booking would be cancelled as per the texts. Suspected scam messages according to the hotel when I contacted them about it, but concerning that it might be a hacked business account on the hotels end?
We didn’t have any room to park so had to use on street which was a shame - would be nice to have the option to reserve a space as parking was advertised, and we had a lot of heavy luggage
Would be really nice if they provided tea and coffee in the rooms - when we arrived before 5pm we couldn’t even buy any from the bar which was missed, and just a touch which we think would improve the experience
Most concerningly - we came away with a few bites which is very odd given the season and raised conversations about bed bugs etc hence unfortunately the lower ratings too.

This property was disgusting I wouldn’t recommend anyone staying here
The staff were very unprofessional and had no regards for the paying customers whatsoever , she drinking and partying until 5:30am right outside my window screaming and shouting with her family I complained endless times but the very drunk manager Nicki wasn’t bothered at all I stayed there on a hope to sleep as I had two days or training in the area ! I checked out a day early to which the inn didn’t check me out so I couldn’t receive a refund and there still refusing to give me a refund probably need it to fund the coke she was sniffing too

Breakfast was OK.
Fruit Juice was extra but good.
Our room was well away from the noise of the karaoke and disco.
Staff were friendly.
While the bathroom was clean, there was nowhere to hang a wet towel.
Coffee was awful - went somewhere else for breakfast on the second day. Expected marmalade with the toast but it was on the plate with beans and tinned tomatoes.

Easy to access. Was a triple room
Nowhere to park. Unfriendly staff. Noisy and above the bar/beer garden. Next to train line. Couldn’t check out because no staff available….playing snooker next door. Disappointing.

Brilliant location for visiting Birmingham, but without being in the city centre, the evening meal and breakfast were fantastic for the price. Staff were lovely and very welcoming. Rooms were clean and decorated to a high standard, towels and toiletries were provided. In all a great stay and wouldn't hesitate to book again if visiting Birmingham
Only complaint is another guest tried to get in our room at 4am waking myself and my daughter up , but this is not the fault of the property or staff.

The location of the hotel is excellent and the room was just the right size and perfectly comfortable. The staff were very friendly (especially the wonderful lady who worked in the kitchen). The hotel has its own bar and parking, which was a plus. All in all, a very nice place to stay.

Very friendly and helpful host. Clean room, linen, and bathroom. Great location - we wanted to be near Bournville. Surrounded by restaurants and takeaways for any cuisine you might want!
Details on Booking.com suggested a refund might be available within 48 hrs. notice, but this wasn't the case for us. You may want to double-check the refund policy.

Bedding too warm for summer, noisy guests in early hours and fire alarm went off at 7.30

Close to where we were going for the evening. The bar area looked nice. Nice people. Comfy bed.
Very limited parking. Hard to spot for uber. Tv in room didn’t work. Used linen all over the communal carpets (if they are soiled, that is now on carpets). Unfinished walls. Window too far from bed to breathe.

Nothing. There was nothing to like.
When there is a function on at this hotel/Inn the potential customer should be informed in advance so they can make a fair and informed choice about whether or not to pay good money to stay here. TV had very limited channels, completely out of tune. No WIFI, No coffee or tea available in the room.
My evening was spent with music from a function blaring out so loud it was vibrating the bed. I paid £75 for this hell.

Cleanliness
Room had no functioning remote control. No fan or air con. Was very hot. Very loud and noisy from social club downstairs.
6.0 / 10.0
Room was very clean and it was a good location.
It was noisy with people from the pub chatting outside into early hours and the noise from the trainline started very early in the morning so it wasn't a great nights sleep.
5.0 / 10.0
Beds were comfortable, nice big powerful shower.
No kettle. No glasses even for a drink. A TV on the wall but no remote, and when switched on at set no channels tuned in. Toilet seat lid broken. Shower door handle hanging off. Made an original booking and then decided to extend so added a second booking (didn’t want to risk losing the first one) months ago, and sent a message when we’d arrived to make sure they knew we were staying 4 nights and not 2, which they never read. We got called when out at a concert to ask why we hadn’t checked out. The staff member said they don’t have access to the online booking system so didn’t realise we were staying longer. I feel like with a couple of tweaks this could be a great place, as the train station is so convenient to get into the city.

Convenient location for our purposes
Good price and comfortable
Availability of parking was slightly misleading . There was parking but not enough so it wasn’t guaranteed overnight guests were going to get a spot .
