chez Germaine

It was a private house with an electric gate. Germaine was a nice lady. Good size shared bathroom with another guest we didn't ever see. We were only there two nights before moving to another place for a week self catering.

The mattress on the bed was a foam one on top of another one which was thinner. There was a fan but no air conditioning and it was roasting in Lourdes on arrival. We came to the flat and couldn't contact Germaine but there was one email on booking.com where one has to enter a pin to get to communicate with the host which we hadn't done. The other place we stayed sent us many emails but for some reason not this one. So when we realised and contacted Germaine we had to go and find somewhere to wait for a few hours. it was fine there is a lovely deli called Richards five minutes from Germaine's on the left on the way into town where the food is great and so reasonable. It's a little bit eccentric. There's a bed one might use for physio or clinical examination as you enter the house. Germaine insists you take off your shoes and she will give you slippers. If you come back later she emerges from a downstairs room with a light curtain instead of a door in her nightie to let you in or chat to you. We didn't eat there so can't comment. But she's a nice lady and it was reasonably priced. It's about a 15 to 20 minute walk into the sanctuary

The lodging was between the train/bus station and the Sanctuary so it was easy to access both locations yet we were in a quiet & lovely neighborhood. Our accomodation was airy & roomy with plenty of storage and light. The shared bathroom was clean and toiletries were provided. We were given access to the kitchen to prepare light meals, as well. Germaine was a kind & gracious hostess, providing many wonderful opportunities to share experiences & stories. We feel that we arrived as guests but departed as friends ! 💙

Germaine was an amazing hostess and left nothing to chance ~ *everything* was perfect !

Nothing really. I would rate it disappointing but I don’t want to be rude to the host.

The host’s constant presence felt uncomfortable, as there was no separate entrance—we had to use the main door, which meant disturbing them each time. Communication was also difficult since the host spoke very little English; even simple requests often took 5–10 minutes to explain. Despite booking for two people, we were given only one towel and one hand towel. Most disappointing, though, was discovering that many of the listed facilities, including the washer/dryer, came at an extra cost. This disrupted our holiday planning and left us frustrated.
