Seaview Retreat - South Shields

Great location. Easy parking. Had everything we needed

Nice view and central location with plentiful outside parking.

Messages stuck around the living room instructing guests not to do this or that. The bathroom fan did not work. Very basically equipped kitchen. Fridge freezer in need of defrosting.

Clean, comfortable and close to amenities and like a home from home.

Great location. Lovely view to the sea. Quiet. Great communication during our booking process.

Mark did not meet us at our check in time as suggested he would. Just a short text with the code. A bit tired in all rooms and a narrow smelly entrance way/hallway. Not an attractive entrance way - also don’t be fooled by the photograph of the grand and rather beautiful double fronted house that is next door .. it isn’t in that house, it is the single fronted terrace next door with a not so attractive black front door. You’re greeted at the narrow entrance by a remove your shoes sign…. No thank you. The lounge is spacious but there is no dining table just a very cramped breakfast bar for two .. there were 4 of us. The lounge chairs/ seats were not comfy or relaxing - the chaise lounge was the only comfy chair. There are two small bedrooms and a sofa bed in the lounge. The sofa bed was uncomfortable and faux leather and certainly a very very small double. We then tried the pull-out bed in the single room (described as bunk beds) - it is a guest bed under the single bed - the slats are all broken so could not be slept on. We ended up taking the mattress into the lounge for our 16 year old to sleep on - not the best welcome. It is described as sleeping 4 -5. There is no plug in the laundry room for the iron - I would advise the owners to invest in a proper full sized ironing board - it was difficult to iron my linen dress with the table top board that we had to use on top of the oven! The shower was good - good water pressure but it is spoiled by the owners putting an egg timer in the shower - passively dictating the timing allowed for a shower (bizarre!!). The toilet seat is broken. The towels are all tiny bath towels. The TV - no signal most of the time. Wimbledon and the football were missed due to this. The WiFi - no signal in the back of the property at all - very dissapointing in today’s era of technology. I think that is a stingy option to cut costs by the owners. So overall quite disappointing I’m sorry to say.
