    Unfortunately, this was a very disappointing stay. There was black mould in the bathroom, and the fridge still contained rubbish left by the previous guest. I was prepared to overlook both of these issues because it was the weekend and most other hotels nearby were fully booked. However, the main problem was the extremely poor soundproofing. My room was a corner room and did not directly connect to another guest room, yet I could still hear very loud snoring throughout the entire night and was unable to sleep. At around 7:00 am, after being kept awake all night, I went to reception simply to ask whether they had any earplugs I could borrow. I was not looking for an argument or even trying to make a formal complaint. I just wanted a practical solution so that I could get a few hours of sleep. Instead, the tall male receptionist immediately treated the situation as if I were complaining about another guest. He did not come to my room to check the noise, did not offer any practical solution, and instead questioned whether I was actually hearing any noise at all. He then told me that the other guests were simply “resting normally.” I found this response extremely strange. I had never suggested that another guest was doing anything wrong. The issue was clearly the hotel’s poor sound insulation, not the fact that someone else was sleeping. Turning a soundproofing problem into an accusation that I was somehow objecting to another guest resting completely missed the point. What I found most frustrating was being questioned about whether the noise even existed without anyone from the hotel making any attempt to check the room first. In the end, I had no choice but to pack my suitcase and leave the hotel at around 7:00 am to move to another hotel, simply so that I could finally get some sleep. Poor cleanliness can sometimes be an oversight, but the combination of black mould, rubbish left by the previous guest, extremely poor soundproofing, and an unhelpful and dismissive response from reception made this a particularly unpleasant experience.
