About this cottage rental
Lower Barn is a beautifully refurbished Cotswold holiday home which sleeps four guests, in two cosy bedrooms, with one family bathroom. This 200 year old Cotswold stone barn has been lovingly renovated whilst still keeping many character features. With its central location and designated parking space, it is the perfect base from which to explore Chipping Norton, the surrounding beautiful Cotswold countryside and the wealth of popular sights in the area. The outdoor patio is a lovely space to enjoy the sunnier weather and relax whilst dining alfresco. Even welcoming one medium sized dog, Lower Barn is a real home away from home to share with loved ones.

The maximum occupancy for this property is 4 guests. Infants do not count towards the occupancy figure, however, due to space restrictions the occupancy can only be exceeded by 1 additional infant (aged 2 or under)
Bed linen and towels are provided (duvets and pillows are hypoallergenic)
Off street parking is available for up to 1 medium sized car
Electric charging point available, pay as you go (please bring charging lead)
1 travel cot and 1 highchair are available on request (please bring your own linen for the travel cot, as this is not provided)

We stayed for one week in the Lower Barn. The contact with Stay Cotswalds was very professional and communication was excellent.
We were quite astonished about the location as this didn't really correspond to the description and pictures on-line. The Lower Barn is located at the end of an alley. The Parking place that got already mentionned a few times was OK but very manageable for a midsize car (we have a Subaru XV/Crosstrek).
What was rather unpleasant is that in the alley many garbagecontainers for the different holiday lets in the alley are standing around which gives the location not such a holiday feeling, especially on hot days.
On entry we were struck by how dark the Lower Barn is. On the online pictures it looks like a lightflooded place, but in reality it is pretty dark little. house which doesn't really invite at staying around by day. Which was a pity as we were there during a (very) hot weather spell. The cottage was clean and well kept with all amenities necessary. The overall feeling downstairs was more shabby than chic. (Sofa's with stains, torn cushions ) Upstairs was decent.
We struggled every day with a fly infestation. With all windows shut and nothing in the garbage inside or so, we were greeted every day when we came back with 10-15 big flies in the cottage. We were not able to determine where they came from. Certainly not from open doors/windows.
All by all it was an OK experience, but we wouldn't come back to the Lower Barn. We can recommend StayCotswalds however.

Blind in ground floor bedroom broken, duvet cover torn. Cushions on sofa torn, chair very stained-needs professional clean/re covering.
Kitchen - cheese grater broken, lack of portion pods milk? Just as temporary supply on arrival. Dinner plate badly chipped needs replacing.
Cups badly stained.
Lovely place, very warm. Not suitable for anyone with mobility issues due to steps on ground floor from bedroom/lounge/kitchen, needs small handrails/grab rails
Tray(s)s would be useful.
Terrace area full of weeds, a real shame as looked unkempt.

Lower Barn is a comfortable, cosy and pleasantly decorated cottage. The location is great as you can access the High Street directly through a gate. Parking is a little bit tight, but understandable given the cottage's location at the heart of the town.
Unfortunately when we arrived we had no internet and no mobile signal. This also meant that we could not use the television. We attempted to reboot the WiFi, but could not fix it. When we went out I sent an email to the cottage contact and then texted them the following morning. I have never received a reply. My husband needed the internet for work and as we didn't feel the problem would be fixed on a weekend we sadly went home early and did not stay for our second night.

It was a wonderful fully equipped rental cottage. Quiet but right in the centre. The parking was very useful. We would definitely come back and recommend it to anyone especially families with children
