Nostalgia S Hotel Shanghai Railway Station

Hotel is located directly opposite their metro station and one station away from Shanghai railway station. Free supper provided by hotel is really tasty and they also provided a lot of other items from young children to older age group. Hotel staff is friendly most of the time, but there is a few who is not very helpful, just a yes and no cannot be bothered to do more. Room is clean. Except when I check in my room there is this empty contact lens case below the basin, and it was still there a few days later during my stay, but the floor is really clean. Housekeeping made my bed everyday without cleaning or pick up the my hair on the bedsheet. From this. I can tell when they have change new bedsheets during my stay. Tables and toilets is very clean. There is someone smoking inside their room during the last few days of my stay. Although it’s a non smoking room but I heard many Chinese people still smoke in the rooms. The smell somehow spread to my room toilet and soon all over my room. My daughter start coughing because of this. I happen to met another family with young children who stay on the same level and ask them about this, their room is fine. I guess their air ventilation is different. Feedback to the hotel staff and they help to clear out the air that afternoon, and I smell the smoke again later that night. Luckily I’m checking out the day after. Families who do not like cigarette smell can take note this might happen, there’s a small window in the room to help clear out the air a bit. Overall 50/50. Not a bad stay as the price is reasonable with good location, near central but away from peak hours jam. Room is also big and spacious

They were very thoughtful about the comfort of their guests, and in the end, they recommended that we should upgrade our room with some complimentary. Whatever we needed, they always tried to provide it. Especially the laundry service — they would deliver the cleaned clothes directly to our room.

This was a great stay. The mattress had solid spring support with a soft topping and the room had good sound proofing so despite being right by the road one could barely hear any noise. The hotel is in a good spot and right across an entrance to a metro station with easy access to lines 1, 12, and 13. Service was impeccable. Totally recommend this hotel and totally deserving of its high ratings.
