While the apartment was clean and simple, and looked similar to the photos, it neglected to say that it was part of a block that looked like a motel. Out the front was a car park / parking lot while there was a busy road in the back. There was no reasonable outside space to sit in so we were confined indoors when there and ended up going out to parks or the coast just to sit outside.
VRBO messaging went offline the day before which meant we were unable to read any attachments to the messages we were receiving from the owner. Getting them more that 24 hours in advance would have helped in terms of actually finding the place.
